November – and October, which I ended up skipping – are both over, so it’s time to discuss our favorite Cozies that we read this month!
If you read a Cozy mystery this month and want to recommend it to the rest of us, be sure to post it here! For this month, I read the first entry of Verity Bright’s Lady Eleanor Swift Mystery Series. For the reasons I want to recommend it, be sure to check out the blog entry!
So, what have you been reading that you can recommend in October or November? Please be sure to tell us why you liked these Cozies so much. I know we’re all always on the lookout for more particularly good Cozy Mystery authors! As always, please do not tell us about the Cozy Mysteries you did not like.

I love the Connie Berry Kate Hamilton mysteries. Beautifully written.

Death on a Scottish Train by Lucy Connelly was very good. I love this Scottish series and her Irish one. Just heard that she is doing a Welsh one, too.
By Hood or By Book and Put Another Crime in the Jukebox by Misty Simon were both good. I love that they are set near where I live.
Where the Bodies are Berried by Peg Cochran is set at a cranberry farm. I was disappointed that there was no recipes this book.
Murder on the S.S. Cleopatra by Sara Rosett is a historical mystery that reminded me of Death on the Nile by Agatha Christie. Similar setting with many characters on a boat in the Nile.

Such a Cozy Murder, first book in the Rosie Alexander Cross-stitch Mysteries

Dear Danna: I am currently rather housebound without a car after an accident. So I use GoBus to get to the library. However, I DO get to the library as it is a priority for me. I’ve read the Knit and Nibble series by Peggy Ehrhart and the Southern Quilting mysteries by Elizabeth Spahn Craig. I also read the Sloan Krause Beer brewing mysteries by Ellie Alexander-all very worthwhile series and very entertaining. Great sleuths and very readable. Currently re-reading the Knit and Nibble series from the beginning with Murder She Knit book.

Rob, I’m sorry to hear that! I hope you weren’t injured at least. Do you know how long you’re going to be housebound?

The T E Kinsey Lady Hardcastle and her maid are the co-detectives in the turn of the century English series.
There is a lot of give and take humor between the two as they set about solving the crimes
Karen Menuhin The Heathcliff Lenox series, also an English historical series taking place in the 1920’s They also provide a dry humor to the series.

I am working on the Victoria Thompson, Gaslight Mystery series. This series gets better with each book. The old New York setting is fantastic! Also, the Lighthouse Library Mystery series by Eva Gates. The Outer Banks setting is nice, and the library is unique

I love Lucy Connelly’s Scottish Isle series and highly recommend it.

A Very Woodsy Murder by Ellen Byron is the first book in the Golden Motel Mystery series.
Sitcom writer Dee Stern buys a mid-century motel with her best friend (and former husband) Jeff. Neither have any experience in the hospitality industry, but then again they don’t have any experience investigating murders either.
This was a lot of fun to read. I look forward to reading more of the series to see if these two can make a go of the hotel!
