A Little of This and a Little of That… (A Few Updates)

May 10, 2013

I have gotten some letters and/or comments with updates that I missed on some of “my” authors on the Cozy Mystery site. Thanks to those of you who sent me corrections/additions. Here are the pages I recently fixed:

Arlene Sachitano: I have added the mystery books I was missing from her Harriet Truman / Loose Threads Mystery Series. I try to stay on top of it with “my” authors, but every once in a while, I don’t!

Debbie Macomber: Yes, yes, I know Macomber doesn’t write mystery books, but I had several people suggest I add her “good feeling” books to the site, so I did. Every once in a while I have to remember to check and see if she has new books out. Lucky for her readers, she usually does! (Some of you know her from the fact that both of her Mrs. Miracle books were made into Christmas movies for the Hallmark channel.)

Edward Marston (aka Keith Miles & Conrad Allen): I had forgotten to add a few of his mystery books in the Redmayne & Bale Mystery Series. I think I have his page correct now.

I don’t sew, but I always look forward to watching the PBS Sewing with Nancy shows – especially the last ten minutes of each show – where she highlights a unique style of sewing or a person with special sewing abilities. One of the recent shows I watched had Jennifer Chiaverini on, talking about her Elm Creek Quilts Series of books. That reminded me that I had to update her page, which I did.

Barb (who was so fantastic about keeping me in the loop for Guidepost’s Patchwork Mystery Series) has just started telling me about Guidepost’s new series: Secrets of Mary’s Bookshop. Thank you, Barb!

Also, Edie Claire‘s seventh Leigh Koslow mystery is out. (I don’t know how I missed this book, since Claire is one of my favorite authors.) The e-book format of Never Haunt a Historian is already out, and the Never Haunt a Historian paperback will be following very shortly.

Let’s see, I’m trying to remember if there is anything else I have been working on that I need to tell you all about. I have gone through all of my notes, and I think this should do it.

P.S. >>> I just found one more note to myself. I also updated Suzanne Adair‘s page to include her second Revolutionary War Mystery Series.

Danna, I know you like to recommend good TV shows or series. My husband and I are enjoying Scott and Bailey, two women detectives with very different personalities and lifestyles who solve crimes in (I’m embarrassed to say I’m not sure if they’re in Manchester or London as sometimes I’m on my computer as I watch and miss “certain details”), England. This show is current on our PBS station and is engrossing both on the mystery side as well as personal lives of the characters. Their boss also has quite a complicated life! I don’t know if you have mentioned this show yet. If you have, sorry for the repetition.

Thanks, Mary Joy, for telling us about Scott & Bailey. I’m going to check and see if my PBS channel has it.

I have two new books out in the Moon Shadow series–feel free to add them to my page! These are paranormal mysteries, not cozies (the Sedona series is cozy). Under Witch Moon is the first, Under Witch Aura is book two and Under Witch Curse just came out at the end of March!

Thank you for your hard work. I have come to rely upon you for up dates on my favorite mystery authors. I did discover that Gail Bowen has a new book not listed on your site, The Nesting Dolls, released in 2010. There are also two upcoming books, The Gifted and Kaleidoscope due out this year. Again thanks for your efforts on behalf of cozy mystery readers.

Thank you, Inagrace, for the update about Gail Bowen. I always appreciate it when Cozy Mystery site readers take the time to let me know about additions/corrections. I am going to go add her latest to her page, and put the other two on my tentative new book release list.

      Thanks, again!

Donna, if I had written several Cozy Mystery books, I’d brag about that all the time!

Hi Danna, just like everyone else, I LOVE your site! Rants included. 😉 I can’t tell you how often I refer to it at the library and when shopping on Amazon, as well as when I’m looking for new authors. I can only imagine all the work that goes into maintaining it!

I have updates for one more author you have on site. Donna Leon has had a few books published since the last one you have listed (A Question of Belief). They are:
-Drawing Conclusions (Brunetti book 20, published March 2011)
-Beastly Things (Brunetti book 21, published April 2012)
-The Golden Egg (Brunetti book 22, published March 2013)

She also has a standalone novel, The Jewels of Paradise, published Oct 2012

Beth, I’m so glad you are able to use the author list while looking for new books to read. I have heard from librarians who say they use my list at their libraries.

Thank you for getting me up-to-date with Donna Leon’s books. I just checked to make sure she is on my list of authors on the site that I work off of.

      Thanks, again!

Hi Danna – Thanks for the update on the TCM mysteries. I just finished watching Murder By Death. I love this movie so much that I always watch it whenever it is showing. At one point, when I was going out of my mind because I was so bored and couldn’t find anything I like to watch, I actually ordered it On Demand. I love every single actor in this movie, and all of them are included in my list of favorites. What a brilliant idea to put all of them together in this movie. And, as usual, Peter Falk is superb. His scenes with Eileen Brennan just really crack me up.

Eva, you must really love this movie – to have “actually ordered it On Demand.”

We just watched a Columbo yesterday afternoon, and you’re right, Peter Falk is superb!
