Good grief! To me it seems like we should already be in April, but it’s still only March! Every time Easter falls so early in March, I feel sort of odd. All the flowers have been blooming since the middle of the month here in San Antonio and I know that if I still had my bird feeders out I’d be enjoying lots of little hopping-and-bopping fledglings. (Doggone those crazy house-eating squirrels! Why do they always insist on ruining everything for everyone else!)
Back to the reason for this entry: Here are the mystery movies I have found that will be airing on the Turner Classic Movies channel and on the Hallmark Movies and Mysteries channel. So far it doesn’t look like we’ll be treated to any new mystery movies on the Hallmark M&M channel, but I’ll keep checking to see – once they put up the rest of April’s schedule. Also, I want to tell you about a movie that aired on the Lifetime channel during March. Donna McLean told us about it in a comment, and boy am I glad she did! I have tried to find out when they are replaying it on Lifetime, but it doesn’t look like they are (in the very near future). So, if you happen to get a chance to see Lifetime’s And Then There Were None (a two part miniseries) be sure to watch it. It doesn’t follow Agatha Christie’s book to the tee, but it is good, and has some terrific actors. (It looks like it will be available on the Netflix disc option, so if you have that, you might want to add it to your queue.) It does show a little gore and sexual situations, so it’s not totally Cozy, but my husband and I sure enjoyed it. (If you have DirectTV, it is currently available on the Lifetime on Demand channel.)
If I were to recommend only one mystery movie airing on TV during April 2016, it would have to be Kind Lady, which will be airing on Tuesday, April 19. I just watched it last month and I absolutely loved it. Ethel Barrymore is terrific as the “Kind Lady”, and the rest of the cast is pretty terrific too! (Angela Lansbury, Keenan Wynn, Betsy Blair, Doris Lloyd, and Maurice Evans) I don’t think you’ll be disappointed…

Cozy Mystery List TV and Movie Section
Ceelee sunshsine says
Thank you for this list! I don’t have TCM but I can get their movies through SlingTV and other sources. I have a couple questions about the HMM Mysteries: Are the Real Murders Aurora Teagarden mysteries a TV movie or TV show? Same with Murder 101? I have heard of the first as I am a big Charlaine Harris fan but not heard of the second. Dick Van Dyke is in it? Wow that would be neat to see if I can find it!
I have a Roku media player and I found the Lifetime movie And Then There Ware None on their freestanding Lifetime channel. Some one on Facebook tipped us off to that as a lot of us missed Part 2! Maybe Lifetime’s website might have it to watch for those without a media player.
PS I am in North Texas, DFW Metromess.Everything is blooming here too but it is chilly today! We had a big storm last night and a tornado warning in our town so that was a little scary!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Ceelee, The Aurora Teagarden mysteries are made for TV movies. As for the Murder 101, I just looked it up and it looks like there were four made-for-TV 2-hour movies made with Dick Van Dyke and his son, Barry. (The Hallmark channel made them in the mid 2000s.)
The DirectTV has it in their Lifetime on Demand (for free), but I don’t know how long is will last. Also, it will be coming to Netflix as a disc set, but not streamed. I think Lifetime is trying to get people to join their Lifetime movie thing, which I know nothing about.
It’s not too cool down here in San Antonio. I remember tornado warnings from when I lived in Iowa. Those are very scary!
Ceelee Sunshine says
Thanks for your reply. The info will help me look up these shows on the One Channel which is where I get a lot of TV shows and movies which is through the PlayOn channel. I am a streaming diva but I still have Netflix DVD service. Because they have a lot of things they don’t have in their Instant Video service.
Do you get a lot of windy days in San Antonio? Seems like we have had wind blowing here for several months straight! I don’t mind a breeze especially when the weather gets warmer but wind makes it harder to read outdoors!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Ceelee Sunshine, I wish we had a lot of windy days down here! It is usually so muggy and still that it feels like we should have banana trees and iguanas all over the place! (We lived in Panama for two years…)
Marla says
Hallmark M&M will be showing Sandra Brown’s “White Hot” in early April.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Marla, I tried to find out when, but couldn’t find it on the schedule. Do you happen to know what day it will premier?
Lee Ann says
April 17th at 8pm Central time is what their facebook page is saying
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Lee Ann, well this makes sense! I couldn’t find it because their schedule stops at April 16. They should be posting the schedule for the following week this weekend…
Lydia says
I’m a TCM fan! I can highly recommend Key Largo – my second favorite Bogart film after Casablanca. It has a stellar cast with Lauren Bacall, Edward G. Robinson, and Lionel Barrymore. Four stars! The other I enjoy is The Spiral Staircase. Although you can probably guess who-done-it pretty early, it has beautiful cinematography. Great use of black and white. When you watch it, see if you can tell that the “outdoor” scenes were all done on a soundstage! Besides, George Brent is a favorite of mine! Hope you enjoy!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Lydia, I don’t think it can get any better than watching an old George Brent/Bette Davis movie!
Tullita says
Thanks for the movie lists each month. Though we are big movie fans, have never heard of Bulldog Drummond. I’ve set the DVR. Looking forward to it.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Tullita, I DVR-ed a few of them (I think last month) but haven’t watched them yet. I hope they’re good! I’m guessing they may be >>> with John Barrymore in them…
Janice says
I enjoyed the Lifetime version of And Then There Were None. Much better than the version I saw years ago that tried to turn it into a romance with a happy ending!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Janice, even though they changed several things, I thought this version was really good. Judging from some of the Agatha Christie movies we’ve recently had on Masterpiece, it was nice that this one didn’t have Miss Marple arriving in a row boat for a picnic on the beach and then solving the mystery on her own. You’re so right about some of the recent productions being a little skewed.
Gina says
I think on Saturday April 24 on the Hallmark Mystery and Movies Channel is the new Flower Shop Mystery movie.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Gina, thank you so much! I have just added the Flower Shop Mystery: Snipped in the Bud to the UPcoming Television Mystery Movies for April 2016 entry.
