Lately, it seems like more and more novels in the Cozy genre are being announced and released in quick succession, often apparently being released as soon as they are finished. As a result, I’ve been noticing more and more books that I don’t really have a post format to highlight.
The following is a list of books that have been recently released that I only heard about after they were released:
Lesley Cookman: Murder Most Merry (This is 3 Libby Serjeant Christmas short stories.)
Patricia Cornwell: Autopsy (This is the 25th in the non-Cozy Kay Scarpetta Mystery Series.)
Hannah Dennison: Trapped! (This is a Vicky Hill Mystery Series short story.)
Pamela DuMond: The Case of the Sugar Plum Shenanigans (This is the 1st in the NEW Cheesehead Lodge Mystery Series.)
Melanie Jackson: Death of a Couturier (This is the 14th in the Miss Henry Mystery Series.)
Catriona McPherson: Scot Mist (This is the 4th in the Last Ditch Mystery Series.)
Sarah Rayne: The Murder Dance (This is the 6th in Phineas Fox Mystery Series.)
Joanna Campbell Slan: Jingle Bells and Empty Shells (This is the 7th in the Cara Mia Delgatto Mystery Series.)

Oops! Two on my must read list that I didn’t even know were coming out. I must really be slipping!

Susy, it’s not a huge surprise – like I said in the post, these are all books that didn’t really get released with a lot of advance notice.

Thanks so much for your wonderful blog, you’ve given me many happy hours of reading!
I know that readers of cozies nowadays like their books “clean.” I’m wondering if you’ve ever considered including in your listings whether the author’s books are “clean” or not. That would be very helpful to me because I avoid “clean” authors. While many of them are a fun read their series eventually get tiresome and dull as the romantic relationships stagnate at a junior high school level. With the exception of a few favorite authors I’ve moved away from the genre but I miss it. I’m not looking for bodice ripping or sexual content, just a bit of adult logic in the relationships.

Mindy, that’s certainly an interesting approach… well, I don’t know what exactly you consider “clean”, there was a request for a “no profanity list” quite some time ago that might be something like what you’re looking for: Mystery Books with No Profanity.

You’re right Danna. The cozy mystery genre seems to be growing, especially as self-published and small press books are growing in quality and popularity. Thank you for attempting to keep up with it all for us.

Cuppa, you’re welcome! I hope people can find books that might have otherwise “slip through the cracks” with this sort of post.
