Cozy Mystery Book Recipe Finds…

October 19, 2015

RecipesThe other day we all talked about our Favorite Cozy Mystery Themes, which got me thinking of a comment that MJ posted quite a while back.

MJ:

… a possible future idea for a post on this blog: What is your favorite recipe you’ve made from a cozy mystery?

With so many of us liking the culinary/cooking/recipes Cozies, do any of us try the recipes the authors include in their books? I know I don’t >>> but that’s because I don’t like to cook/bake. Even though I have never tried one of the recipes, I read through them all. That’s right! I read through the recipes, perhaps thinking I will one day cook/bake them.

All of this got me wondering: Have you ever tried a recipes from a Cozy Mystery? Do you try out the Cozy Mystery recipes on a regular basis? Have you tried a recipe that turned out to be fabulous? If so, would you mind telling the rest of us about it, and please be sure to include the author’s name and the book it came from.

P.S. Thanks, MJ, for a great entry idea! I hope to see lots of favorite Cozy Mystery book recipes >>> and perhaps I’ll finally try one!

Also, here’s the Mysteries with Recipes AND Recipe Books by Mystery Authors theme if you want to take a look at it.

Favorite Cozy Mystery Themes

October 14, 2015

Yikes! As I was watering some flowers this morning the heat absolutely got me down! Here we are in mid-October, and it’s currently 94º! Yes, I know that for those of you who are familiar with San Antonio weather this may sound like a cool day, but good grief! It’s almost Halloween!

Also, for those of you who have been with me for a while, you know that this is the time of year when I start complaining about how much I miss my seasons! Because of San Antonio’s lack of seasons, I have come to rely on my Cozies to remind me that there is more weather than hot, hotter, and hottest! I pretty much rely on my holiday Cozies to get me in the holiday mood >>> or at least remind me of what some of you are enjoying: crisp, fall days with a spectrum of beautiful golds, oranges, and reds. I don’t have lightly falling snow to look forward to during the Christmas season, nor do I have chilly Thanksgiving weather that requires a fire to be made in the hearth. I rely on my Cozies for those atmospheric seasonal touches.

While I was standing outside watering my plants, I started thinking about my holiday Cozies, and came up with the realization that the holiday Cozy Mystery theme is probably my very favorite theme >>> which in turn got me wondering about your favorite Cozy Mystery themes >>> which inspired me to ask you ALL, what is your favorite Cozy Mystery theme? Do you like your Cozies with recipes? Does your sleuth absolutely have to have a dog? Do your favorite sleuths have British accents? Do you prefer your sleuths to teach, write, or travel? Or do your sleuths live in the same area of the country as you do? (Here’s my Cozy Mysteries by Theme page if you would like to be reminded of some of the themes.)

What is your favorite Cozy Mystery theme? Would you please post a comment with your favorite Cozy Mystery theme, and also >>> would you include why you prefer this theme over all of the others? Thank you!

Repairing Office Machines, Bad Break-Up, Sunday School, Blue/Green Eyed Cozy….

October 13, 2015

Copy MachineI hope it isn’t too soon to be springing another question on you, but you all did so well with that last question >>> I thought I’d see if luck would hold out.

Jan asks:

…I am trying to remember a series of book I have enjoyed but cannot remember the title, main character, or author. I am hoping you may give me the answers.

The main character is rebuilding her life after a break-up. She has returned to her parent’s house (guest house?) and has started a career repairing office machines. She becomes involved in a local church and Sunday School class. The Sunday School class members help her solve the mysteries. I think she had 2 different color eyes—-maybe one green and one blue.

Does this ring any bells with you?

If you think you may know the author who Jan is trying to track down, please post a comment. Thank you!

Thank You, ALL, for All Your Comments!

October 12, 2015

Thank you, ALL! I cannot get over how many of you helped find the answer for Libby yesterday! You ALL were able to whittle it down to just two authors for Libby to choose from, either Jeanne M. Dams or Lyn Hamilton.

I heard from Libby late last night, and you found her missing author!

Shadows of Death! That’s it! Thank you so very much! I am going to get more books by Jeanne Dams.

I am so grateful.

I know I have said this before, but I’m going to repeat myself now: Cozy Mystery readers are a great group of people, who are always willing to help other Cozy Mystery readers!

Also, I noticed that there are some people who are interested in the archaeological theme, and thought I would post this entry we worked on a few years ago:
Mystery Books with Anthropologists and Archaeologists as Their Sleuths…

Thank you, again, for all of your suggestions. I love it when you all are able to help!
