“Do You Prefer to Be Right or Happy?”

June 12, 2011

Hmmm… I’m in a pensive mood! As this is a time when I am just sitting around thinking, and then thinking some more, I’m going to share some quotes I’ve had written down for a while… for times like this when I am in a thoughtful mood:

“Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.” (Abraham Lincoln)

“Most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.” (Abraham Lincoln)

“Experience is what you get, when you don’t get what you wanted.” (Randy Pausch)

“Rejection is life’s protection.” (Alice Hunt)

Question: How are you?
Answer: Better than I deserve to be.

On tombstone: “I told you I was sick.”

How about you? Do you have any favorite quotes/thoughts?

PS>>> I’m working on taking the HAPPY over the RIGHT… but sometimes it’s just plain tough!

You can tell my bar is set fairly low! I’d much prefer happy over right and most of the time I find ignorance is bliss!

add Susan Wittig Albert to the list of Moms who are sleuths — China Bayles — proprietor of an herb shop, tea room and catering business in the hill country near Austin TX — she’s actually a step-mom.

Dress a goat in silk and it’s still a goat- Celtic proverb

If we don’t change direction we’ll end up where we’re headed- Chinese proverbs

as you can see I am a huge fan of proverbs…my favorite is the biblical proverbs

I know this is unrelated but I need help with writing the novel I’m working on. I was trying to come up with a name for my female protagonist and wanted to come up with a name that hasn’t really been used in the cozy mystery genre or a name that isn’t that frequent like Charlotte or Kate. This was on my mind and I was wondering if you could help me.

    Thank you very much

I like the name Jacqueline. Pronounced jacque-lean. You can shorten it to a variation of Jackie for a nickname.

“If you keep doing what you did, you keep getting what you got.” That takes a second reading but I think it is great advice.

Don’t see how you can be happy if you don’t believe in yourself. I have political arguments with friends. They know they are right. I know I am. We’re both happy. Maybe it all lies in illusion.
