This new author, Sara Caudell and a new book out, Cold Springs Sanctuary which I really liked. It is about the ranching community in small town Colorado and some abused women hiding there. The records from the non-profit organization helping them are stolen and things happen.

The new Alyssa Maxwell series sounds like fun. I read the first chapter of this book (it was included in one of her recent titles) & have been looking forward to it coming out. So many other good titles coming too!

Wondering if anyone has noticed that prices for some Kindle books on Amazon have gone up recently. Just several months ago if you pre-ordered a book that sold in paperback for $7.99, it was $5.99 for a ebook for your Kindle. Now it is $7.99 for an ebook. I checked some e-books I pre-ordered in June and July and am going to get them for $5.99. If I ordered them today it would be $7.99. They have not been released yet. A lot of Ebooks are more than $7.99 so I probably shouldn’t mention the $7.99 price. I read somewhere that some publishers now can set their prices on Amazon and that ebook prices have gone up. They might get several dollars more for an ebook but it makes me want to wait and get the book at the library unless it was a have to read and can’t wait book. There are very few of those for me as I have a large TBR list to read.

I also discovered something else this morning. It seems many of the Kindle books sold on Amazon are not sold *by* Amazon, but directly from the publisher — I found this out because I have a number of promotional credits that are good for e-books (or video but I use them for e-books) that are expiring this month & when I ordered a couple of Kindle books, found that they didn’t apply my credits. So after a discussion with customer service, it was explained that I can only use the promo credits on ebooks sold BY Amazon — not “3rd party sellers” (eg. Penguin, Harper Collins, Random House, etc.). So I’m looking at all the books on my wishlist — and they’re ALL now being sold by the publisher, not Amazon. This didn’t used to be the case, because I’ve bought many ebooks with my promotional credits (as long as they’ve been offering them) and never ran into this before!

Lynn T, I especially appreciate the publishers who are keeping the lower ($5.99) prices. I don’t know why some of the publishers have decided to charge the same for their ebooks as they do their paper/print books >>> other than they want to make as much money as they can. You would think that those publishing houses that are pulling that strategy would lose money in the long end, rather than make more. I think a lot of people believe Amazon and Barnes & Noble set the ebook prices, when the publishing houses are really the ones that do.

Two favorite authors have ebooks priced at more than $10, and I’m just not buying them. Right now the only alternative is hardcover at around $25. Yikes! What are they thinking!

Margaret M, thanks for the Fourth of July reminder. I just checked to be sure I had Thread and Gone on the appropriate list. I did, but couldn’t remember putting it there.
