Kitty says
Wow! What a great list…almost overwhelming. 🙂 Love it and thank you! Currently rereading all of M. Grimes’ Richard Jury mysteries, but will be hunting soon for a new series, now that I’m caught up on Brunetti and Gamache, too.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Kitty, I hope you find a few books to add to your TBR pile after you finish rereading Martha Grimes.
Mary says
Thanks–I like to have the 1st book in a series.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Mary, you’re welcome. That’s exactly why I highlight the authors’ names with the link to their pages. I’m guessing that most people want to see the first books in their series.
Sheila in CT says
Short and simple … Wow! What a great book list for November. Thank you Danna.
Sheila in CT says
Murder at Beechwood by Alessa Maxwell is $2.99 at Amazon for the month of October.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Sheila in CT, thank you for this information! I just added Alyssa Maxwell: Murder at Beechwood ….. $2.99 (Gilded Newport mysteries, book #3) to my September FREE and cheap Kindles list.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Sheila in CT, with a lot of holiday Cozies mixed in!
ML says
There’s a “sneak peek” from Acorn of a re-working of Christie’s 1920’s Partners in Crime – Tommy and Tuppence. It’s set in the 1950’s and it’s super! Only the first full episode is available but you must watch. Go to you tube and type in Partners in Crime and you’ll find episode one from acorn. WARNING: It’s a cliff hanger!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
ML, thanks. I had better get my entry about the original Tommy and Tuppence posted quickly! I don’t know how this second series will top that one! I watched the Mapp and Lucia remake, and was… well let’s just say I didn’t finish watching it…
ML says
WHAT?! A remake of Mapp and Lucia? Hmmm. Must investigate this. I finished a delightful English cozy but for the I can’t recall the author and title of the books.
Have you read The Ming Tea Mystery by Laura Childs?
MJ says
ML,
I read the Ming Tea Mystery. Here is my post from the May recommendations…………..
‘Ming Tea Murder’ definitely has a Halloween theme with many holiday activities, décor, and costumes. So for those that want to read thematic books at the ‘right’ time, might want to hold off on this one until October.
I found this book to have a VERY slow start. But hang in there, because it picks up quickly about half way through. The murder takes place right at the beginning at a museum party. It’s become fairly ‘typical’ of this series to do just that One other observation, this story seems to have a somewhat of a different voice to it…………….not sure why. I wonder if anyone else noticed that (OR, am I just imagining it!).
The usual characters, as always, are appealing/enjoyable. And, the new characters are complex, thus quite interesting. However, the romance story line is different – Theo’s boyfriend is fairly weak and she dominates him (which is not the way her previous boyfriends have been portrayed). Hopefully he’ll move away and a better match will come about in forthcoming books.
It’s an engaging mystery with several culprit possibilities. The solution is somewhat of a surprise. And, as usual, it’s filled with a lot of interesting/illustrative info (aside from all the tea lingo).
ML says
Thank you for the comments about the Ming Tea Mystery.
I keep wondering about amateur sleuths who own businesses, and still maintain a successful business ($$$) when they spend all their time investigating crime. Maybe I need to switch from business-themed mysteries – bakery, bookstore, etc. and concentrate more on those who just are very curious and deductive in reasoning. Hmmm. Any suggestions? I’ve read Ann Purser’s Ivy Beasley series and thoroughly enjoyed the characters.
MJ says
I’m sure there are several and possibly worth a whole new topic/discussion. At first glance, two series come to mind by the Lavene’s — the Sharyn Howard series (she is the sheriff) and the ‘Sweet Pepper Fire Brigade’ series by J. J. Cook (Lavene pseudonym). The female protagonist in that series is the fire chief.
Dorothy Martin is ‘retired’ (as is her husband) in a series (of the same name) by Jeanne Dams. It is set in England. The same is true for the Sheila Malory series by Hazel Holt, also set in England. Both are often recommended on this blog.
Two favorites of mine are the Deborah Knott series by Margaret Maron. She is a judge and her husband is the deputy sheriff, so their investigations are part of their positions. The other is the Jane Ryland series by Hank Phillippi Ryan. Jane is a reporter, thus her ‘investigations’ also tend to be part of her job.
ML says
THANK YOU!!!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
ML, no, I haven’t read it yet…
Margaret StashEmpress says
Looks like a lot of new series popping up — many from old familiar authors. It will be interesting to see how that fact impacts their older existing series. And a new Chocoholic mystery — my favorite!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Margaret, I think the same thing when I see an author start a new series!
Deahna says
Great list as always but “House of Robots” doesn’t fit. That came out 4th December last year and the second will be out December this year. At least according to amazon.de and amazon.com.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Deahna, thanks! I’ll go take it off…
Jennifer says
Love ur website!!!!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Jennifer, welcome to the Cozy Mystery site. I’m glad you found us! (And, thank you!)
CuppaCozy says
Someday I will accept that I cannot possibly read all the books that catch my eye. Until then, my tbr pile will continue to grow. November has some interesting new series and some gorgeous covers!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
CuppaCozy, it sort of makes me feel like I will never be able to achieve all of my goals!
Linda MH says
I love October in New England (my home), but I feel like I am “wishing it away” because I can’t wait to get my hands on some of these November releases. LOL. Thanks for the list, Danna.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Linda MH, October in New England >>> lucky you! I lived in Connecticut for a year when I was quite young, and still remember the beautiful colors of autumn, and the beauty of early morning snowfall.
Lee says
Am concurrently reading A Catherine Coulter FBI series and Margot Arnold’s Penny Spring & Sir Toby Glendower series. Love them both. I was fortunate to pick-up the complete Margot Arnold at a thrift store so I don’t have to go searching for the next one! Look forward to reading ones from you list and meet a new author. Thanks for all the work you do. I really appreciate it, as do many others.
Shannon says
If anyone is looking for a new series to start, I recommend the Nut House Mystery Series. I just finished book one, and am truly enjoying book 2. Elizabeth Lee does a great job writing the story, and characters in the book. Both books are page turns.
I see book 3 is on the Nov Cozy list.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Shannon, thank you so much for the Elizabeth Lee shout out! I’m glad to hear it’s this good of a Cozy Mystery series.
Susanne says
Thank you for the great and helpful site, I love it! I would like to recommend the Alec Halsey Series by Lucinda Brant. The latest book came out November 7th. Great series if you like C S Harris’ Sebastian St. Cyr (a lot of twists and turns and full of historical detail).
Greetings from Germany!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Susanne, thanks for telling us about Lucinda Brant‘s Alec Halsey Mystery Series.
Jerri says
Hi Danna,
Thanks so much for listing the new releases! It’s so nice to have all the info you post!
Susan Bernhardt’ s “Murder by Fireworks” is out this month. I enjoy her Kay Driscoll character, a woman about my age that I can relate too and her band of friends are wonderful!
Just wanted a “shout out” for us “baby boomers” cozy mystery lovers!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Jerri, thanks for mentioning Susan Bernhardt’s Murder by Fireworks. I have it listed on the Fourth of July mystery book list.
Sheila says
I saw on your post on FaceBook that stated ‘Free Cozy Mystery book’ and your post asked for name and email address. I did this and was told I would get something in my email address on this but I have not. I have checked my spam file also, but nothing. Was there a problem on this?? Would like to hear from you to let me know what is going on, please, Thank you.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Sheila, sorry, but that post must have been on someone else’s facebook page.
