Cozy Mystery News – June 2021

I’ve got three pieces of Cozy news to share with you all this month!

First, Lucy Burdette (aka Roberta Isleib) will be putting out two more books in her Key West Food Critic Mystery Series, which will bring the total of the series to at least thirteen. She doesn’t write anything else as Lucy Burdette, but she also wrote the Advice Column Mystery Series and the Golf Lovers’ Mystery Series under the name Roberta Isleib.

 

Next up, Peggy Ehrhart will be adding two more books to her Knit & Nibble Mystery Series, which will bring the series starring a widow and “empty nester” who now is associate editor of a craft magazine to a total of 10 entries (she already has at least one more coming out in addition to the seven I have names for on her page at the moment). Ehrhart is also the author of the Maxx Maxwell Mystery Series, which stars a blues singer and waitress in New Jersey.

Finally, Kellye Garrett will be starting what sounds like a new series with Like a Sister, the first entry starring a woman who is investigating the suspicious death of half-sister, who was a reality tv star living in the Bronx of New York City. This will be at least a two book series. Kellye Garrett is also the writer of the Detective By Day Mystery Series, starring a Hollywood actress in Los Angeles.

One New Cozy Mystery Series Coming July 2021

We’ll be getting one new Cozy Mystery Series by a site author in July!

Diane Kelly will be releasing The Moonshine Shack Murder, the 1st in her new Southern Homebrew Mystery Series. Hattie Hayes is a moonshiner in Chattanooga, Tennessee, continuing a family tradition going back to prohibition (presumably a legal distiller, who has labelled their product as moonshine?). She’s quite content to continue the family tradition, and unlike many Cozy protagonists, appears to already be living in her hometown after leaving for many years – but this doesn’t protect her from a dad body turning up on her store’s doorstep, threatening the continued success of her business. Diane Kelly already writes the Tara Holloway Mystery Series, starring an IRS criminal investigations division agent, the Paw Enforcement Mystery Series, starring a police officer and her K-9 partner, and the House-Flipper Mystery Series, starring a house flipper.

July 2021 Mystery Book New Releases

Susan Elia MacNeal: The Hollywood Spy (This will be the 10th in the Maggie Hope Mystery Series.)

Mary Marks: Knot Ready for Murder (This will be the 9th in the Quilting Mystery Series.)

Alexander McCall Smith: The Man with the Silver Saab (This will be the 3rd in the Detective Varg Mystery Series.)

G. A. McKevett: A Few Drops of Bitters (This will be the 26th in the Savannah Reid Mystery Series.)

Carlene O’Connor: Murder in Connemara (This will be the 2nd in the Home to Ireland Mystery Series.)

Spencer Quinn (aka Peter Abrahams): Tender is the Bite (This will be the 11th in the Chet & Bernie Mystery Series.)

David Rosenfelt: Dog Eat Dog (This will be the 23rd in the Andy Carpenter Mystery Series.)

Denise Swanson: Body Over Troubled Waters (This will be the 4th in the Welcome Back to Scumble River Mystery Series.)

Charles Todd: An Irish Hostage (This will be the 12th in the Bess Crawford Mystery Series.)
