I’ve been a little busier than usual lately. Our daughter is in the process of moving between jobs, and has been home for the last week. It has been great to have her here. We haven’t been doing much as she wanted to use the time at home to regroup (take it easy). It’s been great having her here.
In between spending time with her, I have been working on the Cozy Mystery site. Since I keep a long-running, tentative list of the monthly mystery book new releases on my computer’s desktop, I decided to not wait until I publish the official monthly mystery book new releases list, but go ahead and put the books on the authors’ individual pages as soon as I find out about them. (Hope that makes sense!) That way, if you want to know if a particular favorite author of yours will be publishing a mystery book in the near future, you will be able to find out by looking at his/her page.
I will still be doing the official monthly mystery book new releases entries, but if you absolutely cannot wait until the month before the book is released, you can check to see if your favorite author has something coming out sometime soon.
For example, on September 1 I will be publishing the October 2013 Mystery Book New Releases entry. But, let’s say that you are a fan of Donna Andrews, and you want to find out (before September 1) if she will be publishing something in the near future, you can go to her page and see. Aha, you’re in luck! Donna Andrews is publishing a Christmas theme mystery (Duck the Halls) which I already have on her page. As it turns out, I also already have it on the Christmas theme mystery page with all of the A authors, since it’s a Christmas theme mystery.
Or let’s say you’re a Heather Blake fan, and you want to know if she will be publishing any new mystery books any time soon. Rather than wait until October 1 (when I post the November 2013 Mystery Book New Releases entry) I already have her new Magic Potion Mystery Series posted on her page. That way you will know that her first book (A Potion to Die For) in that series is due to be released.
Actually, I don’t know why I didn’t start doing this a long time ago. I should have been posting the mysteries as I found out about them, not “hoarding” them on my tentative list until the monthly entry. I will blame this on me being very set in my ways, and not seeing the forest for all the books.

You’re welcome, Melissa B. I hope they help those who request from their libraries beat the rush.

Danna, You are such a sweetheart with all you do to keep all of us updated here in this wonderful blog of yours. Just because you didn’t think to list the new releases before your regular monthly posting is no reason to be too hard on yourself. You do us all a great service and I think I can say for almost all of us that we all love you for what you do. Keep up with what you do.

Linda C, the earlier postings should help those who request the books from the library.

It’s really sweet and considerate of you to go to so much trouble. Thank you so much!

You’re welcome, Marion.

Great idea, Danna. I noticed that some authors put the title and release date of their next book in their newly released book. When I see this, I usually make note of it in a computer file so I know what’s coming in advance. Two recent examples – in Kate Collins latest book ‘Seed No Evil’, she mentions that her next book in this series, ‘Throw in the Trowel’, will be available February of 2014. In Shelley Costa’s book, ‘You Can Cannoli Die Once’ states her next book, ‘The Ziti That Never Sleeps’, will be available January 2014.

Thanks, MJ, I just added Kate Collins’ Throw in the Trowel to the February 2014 mystery book new releases. I’ll be updating the authors’ pages who have February mystery book releases tomorrow.

Ann, I know what you mean about having loved ones back home. Our daughter leaves early tomorrow morning, and already I miss her. (She’s packing as I type.)

Excellent idea. Thank you for all your hard work do with keeping the cozy mystery reader up-to-date with the latest of books coming out.

I know, Sheila, as long as I’m going to be posting the books on the authors’ pages, I might as well do it when I learn about them.

Hi Danna,
Hope this isn’t an inappropriate link (apologies if so) but I saw that one of the crime fiction websites I follow, Criminal Elements, has a contest going to win the entire 22 book library of Agatha Raisin novels. I know she’s a popular writer amongst us cozy followers so I thought folks might be interested in entering for a chance to win. The contest runs thru Aug 20th. Here’s the link:

I, too, want to thank you for all you do for us book lovers. I’ve had to add ‘book’s to my budget since finding your blog! Many thanks!

PamB, I’m hit the hardest when I read other Cozy Mystery readers’ recommendations each month. As I list the recos, I add more and more to my Kindle. My husband keeps telling me to just buy one book, read it, and then buy another. It’s this OCD (almost hoarding) problem I have!
PamB says
We are ‘kindred spirits’. I do the exact same thing except I don’t have a Kindle. I mainly do used bookstores. After I read my first Charlotte Macleod book I ‘had to have’ more so now I have all of the Peter Shandy series. And when I read my first Stuart Palmer book I ‘had to have’ more. And when I read …….
I must have OCD also but if one has to be OCD I’m thankful it’s only books!

Two Donna Andrews in one year – this is bliss. 🙂

Julia, a lot of the Cozy Mystery authors are putting out more than one mystery each year. Works out great for those of us who are fans!
