Oh my goodness! School starts during August! I would ask where the summer has gone, however, it’s so doggone hot down here in San Antonio that I know it’s still here!
I have the Turner Classic Movies channel mystery movies listed along with some other movies that I think are worth mentioning. Under the TCM schedule, I have the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries channel listings. If you like Mystery Woman, you’re in luck this month! Saturday the 13th looks like a really good day to catch-up on past Aurora Teagarden and Hannah Swensen (Murder, She Baked) mystery movies. Also, a new movie will be premiering on that channel with a very impressive cast. J.L. Family Ranch will debut on Sunday, August 21, 2016 at 8 PM Central. Jon Voight, James Caan, Melanie Griffith, Teri Polo, Grant Bowler, and Steven Bauer are its actors.

Upcoming Television Mystery Movies for July 2016
Here is the page on my site with lots and lots of entries about movies and television shows you may enjoy:
Hanna says
Last month I happened to catch one of the Murder she Baked based on the books by Joanne Fluke. I read all of the books in the series, at least through 2015, and boy was I disappointed. Hannah is described as a bit over weight big woman with red hair, while her sisters and mother are petite blondes. (Not sure now, about the mother’s hair.) When I started watching one of the movies – either the peach cobbler or the Plum Pudding – all the characters were slim blond women, all Hollywood types. I could not tell who was who. So I turned the TV off in disgust. I may try to give it another try, though.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Hanna, try watching one of the Murder, She Baked movies after you have convinced yourself that it has nothing to do with Joanne Fluke’s Cozy series. (I’m very surprised that Hallmark went Hollywood with their choice of actors/actresses.)
Petie says
Danna, you know I agree with Hanna. I did the very same thing when I watched the first Murder, She Baked movie. I was so looking forward to the series and it just isn’t the same. Hannah didn’t look at all like I had imagined and even the cat is different. Hannah’s Moishe only had 1 good eye. But like you said, I guess if we start watching them from the standpoint of not reading Joanne’s books, they will grow on us.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Petie, I think it’s a shame that Hallmark didn’t have enough faith in their viewers. I’m guessing they went with the glamorous actors for the same reasons the three main networks have been doing that for years. It must make a difference, otherwise Hallmark would have stayed true to the books. (It does seem a shame though…)
Debbie says
It’s the same with the Aurora Teagarden mysteries – the actress playing Roe is nothing like the character in the books, but if you forget you’ve read the books, the films are very good.
Here in England we don’t get many of these mystery movies, so I’m grateful when we do!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Debbie, it’s nice to know these Hallmark movies have made it across the pond! I would never have thought you have gotten them over there already. It seems like it takes us forever to see some of your mystery shows >>> which are absolutely the best!
shan says
Same with Flower Shop Mysteries. I was disappointed when I found out Brooke Shields would be playing Abby Knight. But once I separated TV Abby from book Abby in mind, I really enjoyed them.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Shan, it sure does work! I’m enjoying all of these Hallmark movies but don’t think of them as belonging to the Cozy Mystery series we all love to read…
Paula Catherine says
I love the Kate Collin’s series “Flower Shop Mysteries” i just watched my first Hallmark movie. I had to turn it off. Brooke Shields is a marginal “Abby”. She makes faces which I think she thinks she will seem younger. The actor who plays Marco is not believable. I do think they have ruined this delightful series for TV viewers.
Sorry for the rant.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
