I love this time of year. Well, actually not so much the sweltering days of July, but I love the Cozy Mystery releases that start at this time of the year. It seems like August is when a lot of our holiday themed Cozies start being released, and it looks like we’ll have two new Holiday themed Cozy Mysteries to look forward to this coming August – one Valentine’s Day themed and one Halloween themed!
First is Ellery Adams‘s Murder in the Paperback Parlor, which takes place near Valentine’s Day. This second entry in the Book Retreat Mystery Series will see the return of amateur sleuth Jane Stewart, manager of the Storyton Hall Book Resort in the hills of western Virginia. When one of the prominent authors visiting the resort is killed, she’ll need to once again help get to the bottom of the case if she wants to keep her beloved resort afloat! Ellery Adams writes multiple other popular Cozy Mystery series, including the Charmed Pie Shoppe Mystery Series, the Books by the Bay Mystery Series, and the Supper Club Mystery Series, among others!
Second is the Halloween-themed Candy Corn Murder by Leslie Meier. Halloween will once again be coming to Tinker’s Cove! This Cozy is the 22nd in the holiday themed Lucy Stone Mystery Series, and will be the third Halloween themed mystery in the series. Homemaker Lucy Stone’s plans for a festive Halloween are ruined when her husband Bill’s friend Evan turns up dead – and Bill is the primary suspect, since he’s the last person who saw Evan alive, Expect even more holiday mystery and fun in this continuation of the Lucy Stone series!

I love the title Murder In The Paperback Parlor! if I ever get a chance to have a room to use for the purpose of storing paperbacks I will go for it! I like paperbacks because they are easier to hold but hardcovers are a little more durable so i have a mix of both. Holiday mysteries are great and I always buy a few at Christmas every year. In October i try to get Halloween themed books or ghost stories.

Ceelee, I enjoy it when August releases are published. That’s usually the month that all of the holiday themed books are published.

Guess I should start reading Leslie Meier. Having 22 to read will keep me busy, not that I don’t have enough to read now.

Rita, I hope you enjoy her as much as I have. I especially enjoy her Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas themed mysteries.
Barbara says
Leslie Meier is my very favorite cozy mystery writer. I have read all her books, most of them twice, and I’m sure I’ll read them again sometime too. They are like comfort food to me. Can’t wait for her new book Candy Corn Murder which I have already reserved at the Library.

Barbara, if you feel like I do about holiday mysteries during their appropriate season, then I hope you turn comes up in October!

I am looking forward to both of these books. Murder in the Mystery Suites was my favorite book from 2014…I think the second book will be just as good. I’ve been reading the Lucy Stone books for many years–I’m always happy to see a new Leslie Meier book also.

Christi, I think both of these books will be good, regardless of their holiday themes >>> although I’m pretty happy about them!
Stash Empress says
Looking forward to both of these new releases! Even though I don’t go by “holiday” or “season”, these are both fave series. Murder in the Mystery Suite was probably the best book of all!! Looking forward to seeing more of that series. And of course Lucy Stone is an old friend by now!

Stash, I’m still holding on to Margaret Grace’s last Miniature mystery since it’s set during Christmas. That’s a problem with my holiday rule of only reading them during their appropriate holiday seasons.
Margaret says
I am excited about THE CANDY CORN MURDER. Leslie Meier is one of my favorites. I just love her Halloween themed books. I have re read them several times.
She writes such a great “good ole mystery.”

Margaret, not only are her mysteries good, but she also does a lot to incorporate the holidays into the books. (She doesn’t just mention it’s Halloween once.)
