Two New Cozy Mystery Series Coming December 2018

November 9, 2018

December will have two new Cozy Mystery Series by site authors!

First, Sarah Fox will be releasing Wine and Punishment, the first in her new Literary pub Mystery Series. Sadie Coleman is starting a new life for herself in Shady Creek, Vermont, after losing her old job in a merger and ending a relationship with a deadbeat ex. She’s bought an old pub, turning it into a spot for anyone interested in either a book club, a glass of wine, or both. But her plans might be interrupted when her ex arrives, looking to reunite – only to turn up dead instead. Fox already writes the Pancake House Mystery Series, starring Marley McKinney, a pancake house manager, and the Music Lover’s Mystery Series, starring violinist Midori Bishop.

Next, Clea Simon will be starting the Witch Cats of Cambridge Mystery Series, beginning with the debut novel, A Spell of Murder. Becca has suddenly become both unattached romantically and unemployed financially, and is spending her new free time to attempt to awaken her own psychic powers and become a witch. But the real power lies in her trio of cats, and their influence may quickly entangle her in more serious matters – like murder, perhaps. Clea Simon also writes the Pru Marlowe, Pet Noir Mystery Series, which stars an animal behaviorist, the Blackie and Care Mystery Series, starring cat Blackie and homeless teen Care, the Dulcie Schwartz Mystery Series, starring a grad student, and the Theda Krakow Mystery Series, starring a music writer.

How do others “keep up” with all the really good cozy mysteries. I am having trouble “keeping my head above books”. There are always new series starting that you have to try, you also have to keep up with the on-going series that you cannot miss and then there are the old, but “new to you” series that you discover and have to read all the back books to catch up. I would like to hear how others manage to stay on top of the situation ?? There are just enough free hours in my day

Ruth, lately I’ve personally been more selective… though I do have a very long list of what I intend to read eventually, which does seem to get longer rather than shorter.

~gigglesnort~ Most of us don’t. We’re like the proverbial ducks…we appear serene on the surface, but we’re paddling like mad underneath! I have about 1200 books on my “to read” list currently, and thanks to Danna and her talent for ferreting out new series that I just KNOW I’m going to love, this grows daily! Thankfully, MOST books I can order online used and for an excellent price!

I can’t keep up, plain and simple. Like Danna, I have become much more selective. It sounds harsh but if it doesn’t catch my attention in the first couple of chapters, I’ll move on to the next one in my pile. There are just too many books to read! Life is short and your time is valuable.

I keep hoping I will get caught up when I retire … LOL

I solve my life’s problem with a spreadsheet! I list the Mystery Series, the total number of books in the series, the number that I’ve read and the number of books yet to be read. That way I can sort by the smallest number of yet to be read and focus on those first. After Ive caught up with my favorites (maybe Top 5) I move to the next one on the list or I might start a new series. New series are on a list as well so I know if I’m starting a series with under 10 books or over 40 books before I choose. However, and this is key, if I’m reading a series and I begin to feel like it’s a chore to get caught up, I retire that series and move on to another one. I don’t have time to read books I’m not thoroughly enjoying and it has taken me 50 years as a reader to allow myself that permission to just put it aside. And yes, I know I’m a little over analytical in the approach which is part of my nature. It’s the reason I love this Cozy-Mystery.com website so much!

Leslie, information organization definitely does help! I would suggest not starting a website to help collating it – it might seem like a good idea at the time but it certainly takes up a lot of reading time!

Wow. I’m in awe. I’m pretty organized, but my attempts at making spread sheets have been miseralbe failures, as I am barely computer literate. I have actual word files for each author I collect, and those I want to collect. A spreadsheet would make life SO MUCH EASIER…hmmmm…my neighbor is pretty tech-savvy…wonder if she’s good with Excell? I’ll have to ask!

I’m looking forward to both of these new series.

I love books and I love wine, so the Literary Pub series seems like it’ll be right up my alley.

And I seem to gravitate towards cozy series with magical elements, so I’m interested in the Witch Cats of Cambridge series as well.

I add books to my TBR list faster than I can take them off! ☺

Thanks for letting folks know about my new book (A Spell of Murder) and the new Witch Cats of Cambridge series! If anyone wants to keep up with my books, you can go to my home webpage – http://www.cleasimon.com – and sign up for my newsletter. I don’t send out many (usually one a month, but some months I skip) so you won’t be overwhelmed. But you will hear when I have news, like a new book or a sale coming up!

    happy reading, everyone!

Oh, Clea, I can’t even tell you how long I’ve been waiting for the first of the Witch Cats of Cambridge books to come out! I have it on pre-order, and it is what Santa is bringing me this year.

You have given me many, many hours of quiet pleasure with your wonderful books. For a disabled person who doesn’t get out much, books are a Godsend, and a way of being in a world that isn’t always easy for us. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
