September will be another great month for Cozy Mystery lovers – we’ll have three more series released by site authors!
First, Anna Lee Huber will be releasing This Side of Murder, the first in the Verity Kent Mystery Series. In 1919, Verity Kent is still mourning the death of her husband when she receives shocking news that he may have been a traitor to the English cause in the Great War. She will need to put her own unique skills to the test to determine the truth for herself – for she had worked for the Intelligence Agency during the war! Anna Lee Huber also writes the Lady Darby Mystery Series, starring Lady Kiera Darby, the widow of a deceased anatomist in 1830s Scotland.
Next, Asking for Truffle will be the first in Dorothy St. James‘s new Southern Chocolate Shop Mystery Series. Charity Penn is surprised when she wins a sweepstake prize of a trip to Camellia Beach, South Carolina – she never entered the contest! A local friend volunteers to ask around the town to find out why she won and if it was on the level >>> but ends up dead in a vat of chocolate. Feeling responsible for his death, Charity will need to crack the case to determine how and why her friend was killed. Dorothy St. James also writes the White House Gardener Mystery Series, starring Casey Calhoun, an assistant gardener at the White House.
Finally, Denise Swanson will be starting off her new (?) Welcome Back to Scumble River Mystery Series, the continuation of her Scumble River Mystery Series, with the entry Dead in the Water. I have to admit that this one seems a bit odd – as the Scumble River Mystery Series isn’t exactly had a long break, having released a book last year. I think it’s only being called a new series because she changed publishers… It still stars school psychologist Skye Dennison, and she’s still solving murders! So if you’re a fan of the Scumble River Mystery Series, it seems like a safe bet that you’ll be a fan of the Welcome Back to Scumble River Mystery Series. Besides the Scumble River Mystery Serieses, Denise Swanson is the author of the Devereaux’s Dime Store Mystery Series, starring Devereaux “Dev” Sinclair, the owner of a Five-and-Dime store in Missouri.

Pat Richardson says
I saw this cover and did not even realize, until you said it, that it has a new series name. I was just glad to see a new one from her.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Pat, I’m definitely glad it is continuing as well! It just seems odd that it would be published under a new series title.
Kathleen Kendler says
I believe it was due to the new publisher.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Kathleen, yes, that’s my guess as well.
Ann says
I’ll add these to my never ending TBR list.

Ann, I definitely know what you mean. My own just keeps growing too.

The new Verity Kent mystery series sounds good. I just ordered This Side of Murder from the library. Thanks, Danna!

Sharon, you’re very welcome!
Bek says
Oh, spit. Here we go again. I’m going to have to at least give “Asking for Truffle” a try. Don’t laugh (although I am), but it reminds me of an old Smother’s Brothers (man, am I ever dating myself) song, “I yelled ‘FIRE’ when I fell into a vat of chocolate!” “Why did you yell ‘FIRE’ when you fell into a vat of chocolate?” “Because nobody would have come to help me if I yelled ‘CHOCOLATE!'”
With THAT kind of memory running through my head, I just have to buy that book!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Bek, I probably would have come if he’d yelled chocolate. Who doesn’t love chocolate?
Besides that, I hope you enjoy the book!
Linda says
What channel??
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Linda, sorry about any confusion, but these are book series, not TV series.
Paula Catherine says
I am looking forward to reading Dorothy St. James series. I am currently reading the White House Gardner series, have the last one to read. I really enjoy reading about the White House and all it takes, behind the scene, to keep our national treasure beautiful.
For those readers who like David Rosenfelt’s series I would recommend Dogtripping. This book highlights all it took for David and Debbie’s move across the country from California to Maine, with three RVs, volunteers, and a load of dogs. I thought our move from Massachusetts to Florida, with 6 dogs and 3 humans was hard!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Paula, thanks for the recommendation! I hope that the new series lives up to the White House Gardener – which I haven’t read yet but does sound very interesting.
Margaret StashEmpress says
Not usually a fan of new series, but the Verity Kent series sounds intriguing! (pun intended 😉 )
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Margaret, I hope it doesn’t disappoint!

Sorry But I’m trying to find out if Hallmark Chanel is coming out with anymore Gourmet Detective or flower pot mysteries. and this is the only site I could find to ask.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Gail, I’m afraid I’m not sure. Hallmark isn’t great at communicating about their upcoming schedule. I used to keep up a list of their releases for the upcoming month, but they don’t even share the schedule that far out any more so I stopped.
