Church Choir Mystery Book Series List of Books…

August 21, 2009

I have received several letters asking that I find more Cozy mystery books that are “faith-based.” With this in mind, I posted the

Heartsong Presents Mystery Book Series

Mystery and the Minister’s Wife Mystery Book Series a while back,

and today I just posted the Church Choir Mystery Book Series.

I believe that both the Heartsong Presents and the Church Choir mystery book series were types of book clubs in the past. Since I was not a member of either of these series, I don’t know exactly how they worked… I don’t know whether they sent out a given number of books each month, or if you picked and chose which books you wanted each month. Either way, the mystery books appealed (and still do!) to many.

Here is an update: I have added the Hope Haven Book Series (not mysteries)

and the Home to Heather Creek Book Series (not mysteries) to the site. Both series are published by Guideposts.

Also, I have added Tales from Grace Chapel Inn (not mysteries) to the site.

If you want lists, I’ve got them!!! I also have a list of mystery book authors who do not use profanity in their books…

I hope that those of you who have requested these mystery book lists can use them as starting points…

Thanks for the list. I know there are some who prefer to have mysteries with no profanity in them. I do not remember if Cindy Daniel’s Death Warmed Over mystery series had profanity in them or not.

I don’t know if this has already been suggested, but as a musician I’m enjoying the mysteries of Mark Schweizer, Liturgical Detective. He somehow combines a Chief of Police with most of the other major roles in the usual small town who-dunnit. Those roles not played by our hero are often written in as part of a noirish Raymond Chandler pastiche he somehow manages write alongside his regular story. To anyone in music, or associated with churches or small towns the book is very, very funny.

Please send me a list of the Church Choir Mysteries, I do not need a description of each book, just a list. And if there is an order to them, please put them in the correct order to read. Thanking you in advance for this information. If you have correct reading order for the Grace Chapel Inn Series I would appreciate this, or tell me how to get this information.

Have a good Sunday, I’m off to Sunday School, and thank you sooooo much for your help.

    Happy reading, Freda

    Hello,

Could someone send me the list of the Home to Heather Creek series. I am trying to acquire them one at a time but I haven’t had a job since December and I don’t have the money to pay regular price. I love the books I bought the first 3 through Guideposts and then I lost my job and had to quit. Thanks so much. I love the Christian based books because you don’t have to worry about bad language or explicit love stories.
    God Bless,

    Linda

    Hi Linda,

I have had several requests for me to list the chronological list of the
Home to Heather Creek Book Series.

I have also had requests for the
    Hope Haven Book Series.

Thanks for the reminder >>> I just posted them. I don’t know the authors of some of the books, but I’m pretty sure that I have got the order of the lists correct.

    Hello,
I am new to this site but appreciate the means to ask a question. I have just started reading cozy mystery type books and really enjoy them immensely from the start with my first book of the Patchwork Mysteries, Family Patterns by Kristin Eckhardt. I see other series that look to be along the same line of story content and clean reading with spiritual theme woven through that I feel would also appeal to me. Problem is they do seem to be sent out as preview and pay then continue to receive every couple months another automatically to preview and pay on a regular basis. Question: How do I find out how many are intending to be in the series ahead of committing to having them sent and risking also a need to send back and pay postage? At nearly $20.00 plus it gets pricey and when one starts to read a vol. in the series and wants to stay with it not knowing how many more to pay for it is a little hard to budget for it and avoid breaking up the continuity of the series to have in the collection. Why are not the different series of books listed with the entire amount one can expect to be getting shipped on approval so we can know if we can start accepting them or if it will be to expensive and reject the book club offers. Your thoughts would be appreciated. By the way books from series do show up on ebay sporatically but it is still hard to know when you have all the books in the series without having prior information about it. Thank you

Sharon, some of these mystery book series have finished putting out more books. As for finding out about the amount of books a current/new series is going to have, all I can suggest is that you contact Guidepost and see if someone there might be able to tell you how many books there will be in the series. I rely on Cozy Mystery site readers to let me know when a new book is released in the series. For example, I just updated the Patchwork Mystery Series page, thanks to a site reader who let me know about the new books she had just received.

    Greetings,
Just stumbled onto your blog. I enjoy reading mysteries and fiction based on the Anglican/Episcopal church, especially in 19th century UK. Kate Charles is a current favorite as well as John Meade Falkner, Evelyn Waugh and Susan Howatch. I look forward to perusing your other lists down the line. Many thanks.

      Welcome to the site, Bruce!

I am so glad you mentioned Kate Charles. I had totally forgotten to add her to my Lady Ministers in Cozy Mystery Books theme.

Also, thank you for telling us about John Meade Falkner, Evelyn Waugh, and Susan Howatch.

Carol, I’m not sure – this is one series I haven’t read much of myself, maybe someone else on the site has an idea?
