Rosemary and Thyme update….

We finally finished the third season of the Rosemary and Thyme show, and I have to say that it improved immensely. After that baby-in-the-jeep episode, I wasn’t at all sure if we would continue watching the shows. But, I’m glad to say that we persevered.

We found that they have gone for a more comedic type of relationship between the two main characters, which tends to make them more believable. I have to say that I am glad that we rent the shows from Netflix. Because we just rent the shows, we feel like we can stop at any time. And, we have done just that on several occasions with other shows.

We are members of both Netflix and Blockbusters…. more on that in a later blog.

From the Agathas to the Derringers… What a Great Time of Year!

Don’t worry! I’m on it!

Actually, I doubt you are worried…….. but I am on it…. The Derringer Awards will be announced very soon, and I will be posting them on the web site.

Remember, the Derringer Awards are given by the Short Mystery Fiction Society for the finest mystery stories. Like the Agathas, they are awarded the year after the works were published. So, this year, I will be posting the 2007 Derringer Award winners, even though the date of publication was actually 2006.

And, right after the Derringer Awards being announced, the Bouchercon nominations will be announced. The Bouchercon nominations are for the Anthony Awards, which are awarded in late September.

These awards are just the beginning. I still haven’t looked up the Shamus, Macavity, Spotted Owl, Edgar, Barry, Arthur Ellis, Nero, Herodotus, John Creasey Memorial, ETC awards!

2007 Agatha Awards…… and, the Winner IS………

The Malice Domestic convention took place this past weekend. Although some sites say that these are the 2007 awards, they are actually the 2006 awards. I know that the convention itself took place in 2007, but the works of mysteries were published in 2006. Thus the different years.

I did not attend the convention, and had a difficult time finding out the winners in the different categories. But, I finally was able to solve the mystery! (The Malice Domestic site hasn’t posted the winners yet, but I’m sure they will do so soon……..) I know that a lot of cozy mystery readers anxiously await the results, but, as I have stated before on this site, this is truly a case of “being nominated is an award in itself.”  I truly believe that. I know, when I look at the lists of previous and current nominations, that I am looking at lists of cozy mystery reading at its best.

Anyway, I am posting the winners for the categories, but I’m also providing the links so that you can see all of the other nominations. Being nominated for such prestigious awards puts all of the nominated in a cozy class of excellence.

A Little of This, and A Little of That… Best Authors, TV Movies

Well, I just finished looking up the few authors who I had not read from the Agatha Awards Best Novels page. As I was doing the research for the little "blurp" on the authors, I noticed that most of them have not only been nominated for the Agatha Awards, but also for (other) very prestigious mystery author/book awards.

Anyway, I have posted the names of the five last authors on the What’s New on the Site page.

On another note…… my husband and I started re-watching the Cadfael movies, and, even though we have read the novels and have seen all of the productions, we are enjoying them immensely. It’s funny how some things can never lose favor, isn’t it? Of course, (Sir) Derek Jacobi is great in any role he takes on… We "saw" him in Manor House, a part that he only narrated, and he was terrific in that. And, if you have read my previous blog about I, Claudius, you know how we felt about him in that! (Actually, I just checked my TV & Movies page and see that I haven’t written about I, Claudius…. something I have to remedy!)
