What Do Tim Myers, Casey Mayes, Elizabeth Bright, Melissa Glazer, Chris Cavender Have in Common?

January 3, 2011

Well, I just made some additions to the Cozy Mystery site, and I can tell you one thing… I had to actually draw a diagram to work from! Yes, I have come to an age where I need a visual “map” in order to cross-reference just one author on the site!

Of course, if the author is someone like Tim Myers, or should I say Casey Mayes? OR is that Elizabeth Bright? No, the author I’m thinking of could be Melissa Glazer. But, I think the author is actually Chris Cavender.

Yes, that’s right… They all wear the same clothes, sit in the same chair, enjoy the same foods, share the same house, watch the same shows, and>>> in case you don’t already know, are the very same person!

I understand why an author wants to keep each of his/her mystery series separate from the others, but I must say that it makes it a little… should I say “challenging”? – for someone like me.

Anyway, I just wanted to let you all know that Casey Mayes is the newest addition to this writing “team” >>> writing the Math Puzzle Mystery Series.

Happy Birthday!

January 2, 2011

Today is my daughter’s birthday, and she spent it traveling back to school! Happy Birthday!!! I am so very happy that you are in my life!

This morning started rather early for all of us (4:00 AM), as we had to get our daughter to the airport for an early morning flight. Her Christmas vacation was absolutely, without a doubt, TOO SHORT!

The five of us (son, daughter, husband, me… and Sprite) had a great holiday, but it’s time to get back to work! My husband and son continued working during the past two weeks, taking a few days off here and there, and of course, my daughter took advantage of being home from school. As for me, I spent a very nice two weeks enjoying having our family all together again. But it’s now time for all of us to get back on our regular schedules. (Actually, Sprite really didn’t deviate from her regular routine: sleep, eat, and then sleep some more!)

My husband and I always enjoy hearing from our daughter, but whenever she (finally!) calls us from her own place at school… after changing planes, taking the “T” (bus/train), and then walking from the “T” stop while carrying her two carry-ons, we are always VERY relieved.

But, to be doing all of this on your birthday, well… I am guessing that she didn’t wish for this sort of day while she blew out the candles on her “pretend” birthday a few days ago, but I know I have always wished that she be happy and safe… So, at least one of our wishes came true!

Eating Watermelon Cookies in Winter Snow-Ins, but Not at Rainbow's End…

December 30, 2010

I have three more questions from Cozy Mystery readers, and I would love to get them answered before the year is over!

Gayle would like to find this book:

“a mystery that was not Rainbow’s End by Martha Grimes, but another one written in the 1990s that also mentions Exeter Cathedral and the Rondels – in the one I’m looking for, one of the embroiderers is killed at the beginning of the book.

I remember it is a police procedural and it opens  (or very near the beginning) with one of the embroiderers being killed in the Cathedral precincts.  It would be wonderful if someone recognizes the book.”

Brenda asks:

“I was just wondering if you knew of any winter/snowed in cozy mystery books.”

Annette would like the following recipe:

“I just read one of the Joanne Fluke’s books, Apple Turnover Murder, there was a recipe in there for “watermelon cookies”, I gave the book back to the library before I copied the recipe was wondering if anyone has the recipe.”

I’m going to begin by mentioning Cyril Hare’s An English Murder. The mystery (which is really well-written!) takes place in a mansion during snow-in conditions.

Also, Brenda, you might want to take a look at this entry (from 2009) about cold, howling wind, and snow.

OK, Cozy Mystery readers, you know the drill! Please post your responses so we can help our fellow Cozy Mystery readers.
