Hopefully B & N will have a good coupon this weekend to celebrate St Patrick’s day. The Eva Gates book is a hardcover and I have a really difficult time paying full price for a hardcover when I know it will probably be available in a year as a paperback. I just don’t want to wait.

Susy, I certainly know how you feel. I feel like Cozies getting big hardback releases might be a new thing, though it could be that I was just less vigilant about keeping up with the newest releases decades ago.

Hi Danna and Susy S,
When I purchase a hardcover book, I think to myself “I could buy 3 paperbacks for this money!” LOL!! Some of the cozy books that are now HC instead of PB are those series that were part of Berkley before it dropped its cozy line. Some authors have been picked up by other publishers–for example, Crooked Lane–and I know cozy readers are thrilled their favorite series live on. Those series are now continuing as HC books. I have to wonder if this ‘hardcover cozy’ trend will continue now that Midnight Ink is being closed by its parent company. I’ll never pretend to understand the publishing community, but I always feel so sorry for authors who get dropped for whatever reason–and sorry for readers, too!

I don’t remember if you are the chicken or the egg, but both your website and the Emily Brightwell series came into my life around the same time. Both several years ago. I look forward to reading her books and your postings. Thank you for that. I love cozy mysteries. The more dire the news of the day, whether local, national or worldwide, the nicer it is to read a cozy mystery. I’ve already ordered the newest Mrs. Jeffries book am looking forward to visiting with my “old friends”. Funny how books can seem so real.

LydiaD, you’re welcome, and I’m very glad that my site has helped you find new mysteries, though it sounds like you’re not entirely certain in the specific case!
