I haven’t read Ann Cleve’s but I am really caught up in the main characters of the Shetland tv series on pbs. May want to read this or whatever books follow the Shetland series 3 that I just watched?

Julie, I’m sure that if you enjoy the TV series, you would likely enjoy the books – though I’ll admit I don’t know offhand which books the tv series covered or if they branched off into their own thing at some point.

You’re probably right, but I really liked the PBS mystery series Inspector Lynley, but found the books just too gritty to read – the ones by Elizabeth George. So i wasn’t sure about how gritty Ann Cleves might be. Anyone else have an opinion? (I do realize that what is too much for one, may be fine for another, but still would like to hear from others’ impressions of Cleves?)

Julie–my husband and I just discovered this series on Netflix, and we’re hooked! I’ve just downloaded the first book in her series–but think it was the second episode in the Shetland tv series.
