You know, the thing I love the most about this blog is that when I run out of stuff to read, all I have to do is come here and find a new series to start! I’ve just started the Beau Brummel mystery series by Rosemary Stevens and have now placed a hold on the first of her Murder a Go Go series!

You forgot Edward Marston’s Shipboard Detective Series, which takes place 1907 forward into the teens.

It’s one of my favorite series. Thanks for all you do for us mystery lovers!

    Hi Mary Ann,

I included Edward Marston’s Dillman Mystery Series under his "aka" Conrad Allen. I probably should have listed it under Marston also… or even under Keith Miles…. Some of these authors with different pseudonyms really keep me on  my toes!

I’ll be sure and report back on the Murder-A-Go-Go series when I get the first book from the library. I really enjoyed the first of the Beau Brummel series, so I’m sure I’ll like her other stuff. She has very good attention to detail from what I’ve seen so far, so I’m really looking forward to seeing this next series!

If you like the Old West, you will enjoy Robert B. Parker’s Vergil Cole series — “Appaloosa”, etc.

I just discovered your site today and fear I will be adding to my growing TBR pile:o) I have a couple of names to add that others may be interested in (after all if my TBR pile will be growing I have to try to do the same for other readers).

Ian Morson’s Master William Falconer medieval mysteries set in 13th century at Oxford University. I noticed that the first book was re-released November, 2010 and hope that means the same for the rest of the series.

William J. Palmer, English professor and Dickens historian, wrote a four book series featuring Charles Dickens and his friend Wilkie Collins, that delves into the seedier side of Victorian life as well as Dickens’ life, during the time he meets and falls in love with actress Ellen Ternan.

Margaret Miles! She is fantastic and her books are set in Colonial America in the 1760’s. It is really too bad she only wrote 4 books, I haven’t been able to find anything that is comparable to her.

An author whose name I did not notice in your listing of “Historical Theme” mystery writers is Andrea Penrose, whose “Sweet Revenge” and “The Cocoa Conspiracy” I have read and enjoyed. “Sweet Revenge” is set in 1813 London, “The Cocoa Conspiracy” in England and Europe around the time of the Congress of Vienna (1814).

Donald E Westlake’s Dortmunder series are funny and non horror or suspense violent! Love them!

Paul Doherty has written soooo many books. A series in England or two and one series in Egypt. Very readable and informative and still cozy.
Please forgive me if he is already mentioned in your lists.
