I love Jeanne Dams’ Hida Johansson mysteries. I’m a big fan of historical mysteries, and I like that these novels don’t revolve around any really famous people or events; they are about everyday life for everyday people…well, everyday life with a murder thrown into the soup. They’re a bit like sitting on your grandmother’s porch, curled up quiet as a mouse in the corner listening to the adults talk about things they never would if they remembered you were there.

Julia, I love your analogy about “sitting on your grandmother’s porch, curled up quiet as a mouse in the corner listening to the adults talk about things they never would if they remembered you were there.” Takes me back!

Love Kate Collins! She is a local author who’s books are based on the town I live in (although with a different name). So much fun to read and try to figure out the real location or business she’s referring to in her mysteries.
