Danna, June seems to have a few new releases. i am looking forward to the new quilting mystery. Being from Ohio, I don’t know why I am drawn to the southern mysteries but I am. I love the mysteries and the novels from the Carolinas, Georgia and Virginia and Texas. June looks to be a slow month for new releases. I would think there would be more books set in resort or vacation areas. People will be reading on the beach, as they travel, or as they are just tanning out back in their own backyards. People read during the summer months, too.

Linda C, it does seem like June 2012’s list of new mystery book releases is rather short. I think that generally speaking, October is the month with the most releases.

I can understand why there are an abundunce of new releases for the month of October. With the darker, longer nights ahead people will be reading more. But I still think the summer months would be good reading months too. But then I read almost anytime of the year, so maybe I am a little biased.

Linda C, maybe it has to do with the fact that a lot of people try to do outdoor things during the hot months…

great list! thanks! I know my book’s release got pushed back from fall (sigh) because there are too many big names coming out then. I think those fall releases are connected to holiday buying. Just my two cents ๐Ÿ™‚

Susie, I wouldn’t doubt that a lot of holiday gifts come from those fall mystery releases. Great idea to push back mysteries that would be overshadowed by authors with “big names”.

I am so excited to read Krista Davis’ next Domestic Diva Mystery. Of all the series I read and LOVE, this is my favorite. After DIVA DIGS UP DIRT, she has two more definitely being published. I hope Krista continues this series for a while longer. People have asked me what it is about this series I love so much, but it is hard to say. I think it is like when you meet someone new, sometimes you click and become great friends and sometimes you don’t. With this series it just clicked. That is what is wonderful about cozies they are like great friends.

Margaret, Several years ago my hubby annd I tried to start our own house cleaning service but family affairs forced us to stop. I like the different series’ that have domestic services as a theme. Wish I could have stuck with it. Cleaning to me is therapy. I get upset or frustrated, I clean.

Actually, Linda the main character, Sophie Winston, is not a Domestic as in Housekeeper she is a Party Planner who also writes a Martha Stewart like column for the Newspapers. She lives in Olde Town Alexandria (which is not fictionalized) just outside D.C. She has a rival Domestic Diva, who actually has to T.V. show a la Martha. Krista Davis starts each chapter with a cute letter to the Domestic Diva and adds recipes at the end.

Danna, I think you will like the series. DIVA RUNS OUT OF THYME is (in my opinion) well thought out, well written and fun; but each installment gets better than the previous. The best is DIVA HAUNTS THE HOUSE. I started this series with the last on a whim, looking for just one more Halloween book, and fell in love. I quickly bought the entire series and started from the beginning. I hope you do enjoy it (although I won’t be dissapointed if you don’t, everyone has different taste). I just happen to identify with Sophie and find her very real (especially when she mentions sacrificing style for comfort when choosing clothing ๐Ÿ™‚

Margaret, I see by the list of books in Krista Davis‘ Domestic Diva Mystery Series, that it is going to take me a few years to catch up with her current book. If I read the first one (The Diva Runs Out of Thyme) during the Thanksgiving season, there is no way I will be able to catch up this year to her fourth book (The Diva Cooks a Goose) by Christmas. And, then I will have to wait until the year after that to read her Halloween mystery (The Diva Haunts the House).

Either way, I’m excited about reading them!

HI Danna I know this is the June list but I just got 5 new mysteries from May I wanted to tell you about. Brownies and Broomsticks by Bailey Cates looks like it is going to be a good series to start. Mrs Jeffries Defends Her Own which I can’t start for awhile since I am about book 6 in series. I also got Copycat Killing – Sofie Kelly’s newest book and then two more that are in the mail, which are A Deadly Grind by Victoria Hamilton and The Big Kitty by Claire Donally. Lots of good reading in the next few weeks. Also coming up in September is another Mrs Jeffries book but it is a omnibus with the 4, 5, & 6 stories I think that is what it is – so might want to warn readers in the future.

Alfred, thanks for sharing those books with us.

I am one Sofie Kelly book behind you, and just bought her Sleight of Paw. I also bought all of the rest of Edie Claire’s Leigh Koslow mysteries.

I try to be careful to not add authors’ omnibuses to the “Just Released” lists. I figure that people who follow an author already have read the books the author’s publishers decide to bundle in an omnibus.

I know alot of us like birds and so I thought I would share this. http://www.allaboutbirds.org has a camera with a live feed on a pair of red tail hawks and their babies at Cornell . My first graders have been fascinated to see the parents nest sitting, seeing the little hatchlings, feeding time (dad brought a small mouse one day )etc.. Pretty cool.

I love books of all genre’s but cozy mysteries are by far my favorite. Tried and true to go to anytime, no matter what is going on in my life. Like macaroni and cheese and mashed potatoes. lol.
Have you or any of the regulars on your site read “BUYING TIME” by Kelly Cochran? First in a series by a first time author. The book came out in April. I didn’t notice it on the April new release list so I thought you may not be aware of it. It is a good mystery.
I read in a previous blog that you may do a list of cozies by the state involved in the book. I like to read books that take place in the south.(among ALL the others) Like “The Doughnut Shop” mysteries. Just wondering if you started a list like that or know if a list like that exists.

Danna, I just noted that the two latest Libby Sargeant Murder Mysteries by Lesley Cookman have been released on Kindle.
The ninth, Murder at the Manor on June 15 and for some odd reason, the tenth, Murder by Magic was released on May 31, 2012 but did not show up on my Amazon page until mid-June.
I discovered this author on your blog a few weeks ago and when I saw one title on Kindle, waited until I could get them all before starting to read them.

I also just read the new Dandy Gilver mystery and it is excellent. Quirky plot with multiple mysteries and a twist at the end that I did not see coming at all. I would rate this right up there with the best of any cozy I have read in recent years.
