OH GOOD! A new Bookmobile Cat Mystery!
LOL…we have a whole colony of ferals at our apartment complex, and I’ve named one very sassy ginger tom “Fast Eddie” after Eddie, the bookmobile cat! I’m desperately trying to find a TNR group in our area for all my Cozy Mysteries Cats! I have Joe Grey, Dulcie, Midnight Louie ( who may be Midnight Louise), Fast Eddie and Alistair. OH…and Kit, who is new to the group. She’s a very dark tortie, so I know I have the sex right on that one!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Bek, I hope you find a group that can help you get your cats TNRed! Someone has to help look out for our less fortunate four legged friends, even though it can be a hard and unpleasant job.
MJ says
Hmmmm………I believe Elizabeth Peters/Barbara Michaels/Barbara Mertz died 3 or 4 years ago. Was an unfinished manuscript found and J. Hess finished it? OR, is Hess writing Painted Queen on her own, using the characters and setting of Peters’ series?
AND, I really, really, REALLY wish Joan Hess would write another Claire Malloy book :). The fans of this series are waiting!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
MJ, yes, apparently there was an unfinished manuscript for A Painted Queen when Barbara Metz passed away in 2013. It has been finished by Joan Hess.
And you’re definitely not the only one waiting on another Joan Hess book! But it is still nice that Hess was able to finish this, as they were reportedly good friends.
Margaret StashEmpress says
Not that I’m not beyond thrilled to get a new Amelia Peabody — but didn’t Elizabeth Peters die a few years ago????
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Margaret, yes, she did unfortunately pass away in 2013. However, she had partially finished a manuscript for A Painted Queen before then, and it has been finished by Joan Hess.
TL Eye says
Joan Hess and Barbara Mertz were friends, and you can see photos from one of her last parties in a 2012 article in the Washington Post (9/30/2012), where Hess is mentioned as a guest. Hess is a great author, her series on Maggody from the 80’s/90’s was hilarious. I’m really looking forward to 7/25!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
TL, so am I, even though it’s also a bit sad to know that this will be the last outing for Amelia Peabody. Still, at least the series will get the send off that it so rightly deserves.

I was just looking on my library’s New Mysteries list, and saw Collared by David Rosenfelt. I’m not familiar with Rosenfelt or his Andy Carpenter series, but the title and book cover caught my eye. It must be very popular because already it has 50 holds! I don’t see the book on Goodreads yet, but it’s on Amazon and due to come out on 7/18/2017. Another series to add to my TBR list!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Sharon, thanks for the suggestion! I try to keep on top of things, but sometimes a release does slip through the cracks like this.
