I meant to tell you in my Memorial Day greeting that I got home last week. We wanted to get back in time for our daughter to come home over the Memorial Day weekend. Once she moves to New Orleans, we won’t be able to see her very often.
There were several changes in my mother’s care while I was there. One of the three ladies who comes in to spend time with her has been moved to another “client”. That is great for the two caregivers who didn’t get along, but in the long run, my mother (the “client”) is the one who loses out. (Can you tell I’m not very happy about this change?) She was pretty used to two of her three “ladies” >>> since they had been with her for about a year. Unfortunately, jealousy has a bad way of appearing when and where you would least expect it!
As I mentioned in one of my comments last week, we joined my younger brother while he bought a new truck. I’m glad I was able to spend the time with him. Lately, when I visit my mother, I spend the entire time with her, so it was especially nice to spend a few hours with my brother.
The weather was absolutely beautiful. Very déjà vu-ish for me… Took me back to when I taught school out there, before I moved with my husband.

I’ve always envied my friends who have parents still living (mine both passed the same year when I was 31, I’m mid 60’s now) but I see how hard it is and emotionally exhausting. I guess what I’m trying to say is no matter when we are forced to deal with sick /elderly parents it’s heartbreaking.
Take care.

Cyn, I’m sorry you lost your parents at such a young age. That must have been terrible.
In the case of having older parents, I think that what has made it difficult for my sister and me is that my mother insists on doing things her way.
You are so right, no matter when, it is heartbreaking.

I don’t understand when a book series is so successful, the authors stop publishing the books. I too, am devastated because the Annie’s Attic Series has stopped. There is such a potential for more story lines with

Patricia M, I’m guessing that in the case of Annie’s Attic Mystery Series, they had it planned for only 30 books >>> right from the beginning.

Glad you guys made it home safely and had a good visit.
Getting ready for some more heavy rains and winds this week – good time to get the old Kindle out ….. but at the office can only do that on my lunch hour!! Again, good to hear you’re back home safe & sound!

Petie, thank you. We have had a lot of rain in San Antonio, too. Our daughter had to drive home on Sunday, which was a downpour-type of day. As little as we have been getting rain down here, what a surprise (bad one!) that it was torrential the day she had to drive home.

How neat to discover you live in San Antonio. I just recently found your blog (I’m in the process of editing a cozy mystery I’ve written) and am enjoying it. I live in New Braunfels. So we’re neighbors!

Linda, we do live really close to each other, don’t we? Hi, neighbor!

I can sure sympathize with your situation with your mother’s caregivers! My youngest child (10yo) is very medically involved with a trach & ventilator & etc. We have nursing care 16 hrs/day … supposedly… a day shift & a night shift (and a Mommy shift 😉 — and its soooooo hard to get reliable people! And then we get someone good that he loves — so they go off & we’re stuck with nobody or with someone who is no good & I can’t leave them alone in the room with him… And the night nurse knows we can’t live without her … so she shows up anywhere from 1-3am (instead of 11pm!) cuz she knows we can’t do anything about it — which is why you find me on my computer at all odd hours of the day & night, in case you were wondering!!!!

Stash Empress, I’m sorry to hear about your son’s caregivers. How absolutely awful that they feel they can take advantage of you, coming in whenever they feel like it and not showing up when they don’t want to. What a shame that your son gets attached to someone and then that nurse just “ups and leaves”! I just don’t get it!
