Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I am celebrating by reading a Chet and Bernie mystery I found out about on this blog! Thanks to Danna for creating the site and to all of you for contributing to it!
Happy Thanksgiving. It was a mild and sunny one here in CT. I have been reading Margaret Maron’s new book which I downloaded on my Nook. I couldn’t wait for the library. It deals with buzzards in North Carolina. ( I think). Lo and behold this morning’s paper mentioned an influx of buzzards in Culpepper VA. Cooincidence.
Regina, “YUCK” to a surplus of buzzards! Those poor people in Culpepper! We have a flock of them that hang around some of the shrubbed area in our division. They aren’t the prettiest of birds.
Thank you Danna, BB, and Deb….I hope your Thanksgiving Day was a blessed one!
Perhaps I am the only one staying at home this Black Friday??? (yeah, you guessed it….shopping online, lol)
Nope, not the only one, Cathy. I am proud to say that I’ve never gone out and done the “Black Friday” madcap mayhem. Unfortunately I do have to go out after awhile, but will be to the grocery store which I kinda doubt will be busy. hehe
Happy Thanksgiving everyone, hope everyone had a great day. My DH and I decided we didn’t want to cook much this year so we got our Thanksgiving dinner from Bob Evans restaurants. All we had to do was to reheat all the food. It was great! The food was very good, no mess, the whole meal was only 79.99. The dinner was supposed to serve only 8 people but there was a lot more food than that! I had 11 people here at my table and we will be eating leftovers all weekend. I will do this again. A person can’t buy enough food and cook it him or herself for that amount of money and feed more than 8 people.
I went out shopping at about 9 a.m. Most of the crowds were gone at the places that I shopped. I just didn’t see anything advertised that I felt like I wanted to get up earlier to go buy.
Today I put away all of my Fall and Thanksgiving decorations. The house looks naked!! Myself, I think it is way too early for me to decorate for Christmas. So I will wait until the first week of December. I just get tired of having my house out of order. But that’s just me and my own personal preference. I love Christmas and the decorations but I am also happy when all of the holidays are over. I don’t dread the holidays anymore but am still glad when things can get back to normal(!!??)
Now I am going to go get my jammies on and read. The book I am reading is ” A Cold Christmas” by Charlene Weir. Seems like this is going to be a good one.
I just finished reading “Slay Bells”, a Pennyfoot Hotel Mystery by Kate Kingsbury. I seem to have read this before but it must have been awhile ago because I didn’t remember a lot of what went on in the story. I couldn’t remember when I started this book who dunnit. I have 3 other Pennyfoot Hotel Christmas novels to read. I also have “Corpus Christmas ” by Margret Maron to read.
The weather has changed here in Ohio, AGAIN! to cold and very windy and since it is too windy for me to go outside much I have plenty of time to read the rest of this weekend. With the Ohio state Buckeye football team taking on that team from the state north of Ohio as well as Notre Dame taking on USC I have the rest of my weekend all set.
Have a good one people.
Linda, your Thanksgiving meal sounds a little like ours. We don’t have the Bob Evans chain down here in San Antonio. When we used to visit my in laws in Ohio, my husband enjoyed going there.
This is the first year I didn’t spend the entire day peeling potatoes, making the stuffing, etc. My husband talked me into getting a Marie Callender Thanksgiving meal. It worked out great, although I’m pretty sure we won’t be doing this again. It just wasn’t the same. (And yow-zee! Was that pumpkin pie sweet!)
BB, that’s good planning >>> to go grocery shopping after Thanksgiving. I had to go in to our store for a few items the day before Thanksgiving, and it was a mess. I couldn’t believe how many people had put off getting their turkeys!
Cathy, there is no way you would get me out to the shops on any of the “Black” shopping days. I do almost all of my shopping here online, too. Once in a while I go to a silk greenery store for my mother, but that’s about it. (She loves silk plants for inside her home – and even put two pots of them outside this year.)
Happy Holidays to you. I am starting the Laura Childs tea shop series this weekend which I will enjoy with tea and my feet up! Also shopping at my favorite used book store this weekend when I also found Lucy Lawrence Decoupage mystery series and Juliet Blackwell Home renovation mysteries along with some Grafton’s and Stephanie Plum’s to add to my collection All my books here are for free as I trade him for mysteries I have already read!!
Happy Thanksgiving to all! I hope everyone had a wonderful day.
I am just about finished with DEATH OF A TURKEY by Kate Borden. Danna this was a short series you had recommended to me and I am glad you did. It is an interesting series. My only regret is this is the last in the series. I have several winter themed series all ready to go (even tho I am not quite ready for winter.)
