Happy Easter!
Happy Passover!
To me, Spring has officially begun, even though I know that technically, it began on March 20. The grass is turning green, the birds are chirping, and the squirrels are begging for more peanuts.
I hope everyone has a joyous and safe holiday!
Ann says
Happy Easter to you too. I equate Spring with daffodils.

Ann, I absolutely love daffodils! Years ago, my husband and I planted lots of daffodil and tulip bulbs in a house we owned out in Maryland. Every time I see our neighbors’ daffodils pop up in the spring, I wonder if the new owners of that house are still enjoying those daffodils and tulips we planted.

Danna and Ann, we have a beautiful, historic, not for profit Rural Cemetery in our area that has a wonderful annual event (one of many I might add, they have several almost every month) called Daffodil Brunch. It is the Oakwood Cemetery in Troy (where Uncle Sam is buried) and it is spectacular to visit. It is huge!
There is brunch in a beautiful Chapel among Tiffany windows then a tour of the more than 14,000 daffodils, that are planted, with the help of volunteers, in the fall. This year it is on this Sunday, and the Weather Man says it should be 70!

Margaret, the rural cemetery (Oakwood Cemetery) you describe sounds terrific! How neat that they reach out to the community like this. Love the idea of their Daffodil Brunch. I hope the weather holds out for you all!

Happy Easter! Happy Passover! We had a wonderfully mild Winter and Spring has been fantastic so far, although a little dry and this whole week the wind has been unrelentless. We even have fire warnings! But it was a wonderful day. I hope you all enjoy your day!

Happy Easter! Happy Passover! Happy whatever you celebrate – and a Good Weekend to those who don’t celebrate anything!
Anybody know of any good Easter mysteries?

What a wonderful Easter !!! Good weather!!!! Good food and best of all good family. My sister who is 83 celebrated with us by visiting from Boston. I enjoy every minute that I can spend with her. No reading for me right now.

Danna, Hope everyone had a good Easter weekend. It was beautiful here in my part of Ohio. With March being really georgeous here the daffodills were especially beautiful. This has been a really good spring. Just way too windy.

Happy Easter! Here in sunny NC we already have baby birds hatching out – it seems early but we had a pleasantly mild winter and an early spring (and that’s fine with me!). My favorite part of this time of the year – every time a sudden thunderstorm blows up I grab a good mystery and ride out the storm with atmospheric accompaniment!

Thanks for all of your greetings! I hope everyone had a great holiday (or non-holiday) weekend! It sounds like all of us are sharing unusually beautiful springs. Love those daffodils and of course, those sweet fledglings learning how to fly.
Some of you were lucky to have visiting family with you: Hurray for you!
We have had several years with fire warning out here. I am always amazed to watch people toss their cigarettes out their car windows when we are in the middle of a drought.

WE had an early Spring with temperatures in the eighties during March. The net result our daffodils and crocuses bloomed early and now are almost past. We too are looking at drought conditions. My husband just reseeded our lawn, so we need rain.

Regina, we aren’t in the middle of a drought right now, although we are notorious for droughts. Daffodils are beautiful, but dead-heading them always makes me sad… They simply don’t last long enough.
(Last year, my neighbor had blooming daffodils all summer long. I’m not a gardener, but even I knew something was odd. I finally figured out she had put a silk potted daffodil out on her deck…)
