Happy Birthday Americans!! We don’t have a whole lot planned to do today. I was thinking about going out someplace and getting an old fashioned great American Tbone steak! Steak, baked potato, salad, strawberry pie sounds like an American menu to me!
Have a great day everyone!! It is supposed to rain all day today in this part of Ohio. Hasn’t arrived yet. We like watching the 4th of July cellbrations on TV. Great fireworks and entertainment. We just can’t take all those crowds here at our own area festivities. We will leave all of that to the younger people.
Linda, your menu idea sounds great. We’re staying in today and grilling salmon. (The restaurants around here get really crowded on holidays.)
We could hear the fire crackers going off last night. It never ceases to amaze me how many people are willing to break the law just to “have a good time” setting off illegal fire crackers. Oh, to be young again … and foolish!
Danna, From listening to the National news reports this morning there seemed to be a few people hurt from fireworks displays across the country. I don’t know what the draw is for some people to always want to do something illegal like setting off their own fireworks. I just can’t see the thrill of doing illegal things. But then if people were all so law abiding I guess we wouldn’t have any reason to have a mystery lovers blog, would we!!!
My DH had a cousin who lost his arm just above the elbow setting off fireworks..
Where we went out to eat the restaurant was very busy. But we did have a steady rain almost all day long. People just didn’t want to cook out, I guess.
My steak was very good, thank you.
Linda C, it’s illegal in the city of San Antonio to set off fireworks. Apparently that doesn’t deter some of the parents who go outside of the city to buy the fireworks for their children to set off. What a terrible thing your husband’s cousin went through!
Every time someone sets off fireworks around here I think of our Sprite, and how frightened the popping sounds would make her. (We still miss our little dog! It’s hard to believe she’s been gone two years.)
Hope you and all the readers had a safe and fun 4th of July. It rained here all day in north Georgia, but we didn’t let it stop the fun! My daughter had a friend over and we played in the rain, put the grill on the front porch and then shot off fireworks between the raindrops. 🙂 I think it’s all in what you do with what you have.
We have good neighbors who shoot fireworks in the big ol’ field behind their house. It’s great to be able to sit indoors in the air conditioning, safe from mosquitos, not have to fight traffic and still enjoy the fireworks! Not as impressive as the real shows but it’s enough for us. Hope everyone had a safe and happy celebration!
