OK, in the “old days” I would have said get out your pens and pencils, however, I’ll just tell you about this news, and you can annotate it the way you do these days >>> with your I-Pads, I-Phones, Desk Tops, or… with your pens & pencils!
Let me start by telling you all there is good news for us, the Cozy Mystery lovers, from both the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries channel AND the BBC!
I’ll start with the news from the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries channel. They have a lot in store for us in the realm of mystery movies! As a lot of you know, the channel is already showing movies that feature: Charlaine Harris‘s Aurora Teagarden Mysteries, Kate Collins‘s Flower Shop Mysteries, Joanne Fluke‘s (Hannah Swensen) Murder, She Baked Mysteries, Peter King‘s Gourmet Detective Mysteries, and Suzi Weinert‘s Garage Sale Mysteries.
Here’s the good news! Hallmark Movies & Mysteries will also be starting (New York Times bestselling) Kate Carlisle‘s Fixer-Upper Mysteries! Yes, that’s right! Singer/actress Jewel will be both starring and executive producing the Fixer-Upper mysteries. Jewel will be playing Shannon Hammer, the owner of a construction company that specializes in restoring Victorian houses.
And it just keeps getting better! For those of you who have missed Kellie Martin in the Mystery Woman movies, she’ll be back! Yep! Nancy Grace‘s Hailey Dean Mysteries will be starring Kellie Martin. For those of you who already read Nancy Grace’s mysteries, you already know that Hailey is an ex-prosecutor who specialized in violent crimes who then works as a therapist, and then a TV commentator.
The bad news is that Hallmark Movies & Mysteries is somewhat secretive about giving out their full TV schedules. So, this month I will only be telling you about the following PREMIERS that will air on that channel. Kellie Martin will be hosting what the channel is calling October Sunday Night Mystery Movies in which three new mystery movies will be introduced/air. (In this case, make sure to get these set-up on your DVRs as soon as possible!)

Now on to the great news from BBC. Last December, author Donna McLean told us about the Lifetime channel’s airing of the BBC’s And Then There Were None. (Thank you so much, Donna! I really enjoyed it!) Great news! The BBC will be making seven more of these wonderful Agatha Christie adaptations.
Ordeal by Innocence will be the first movie Agatha Christie Productions will be making for the small screen. Death Comes as the End and The ABC Murders are among the other Agatha Christie movies they will be making. If these new Agatha Christie movies are as good as December’s fare, we’re in for some exceptional TV mystery movies!
julie says
thank you! i LOVE kellie martin in the mystery woman movies and so wished they had made more – liked the whole cast. loved clarence – can’t think of his last name now, from the old old ‘Mod Squad’ tv show – he was great as philbie (sp?). so will look for the new show, but miss the rest of the cast from the old show : ) will flag this email so i can put these things on my dvr. my dvr now will only let me put things on about a week and a half to two weeks from today’s date which makes it difficult! by the way – the new poldark series 2 is coming in september to pbs too.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Julie, I thought there were too few Mystery Woman movies. I think the cast was perfect.
Marja says
Clarence Williams III 🙂
Zoli says
I also loved the series and think there were too few.
Beverly says
I had taped “Hailey Dean, murder with love, I thought! Then I watched 15 or 20 minutes & it ended. I was loving it and am so disappointed. I searched on the guide on the TV was wanting to DVR it again but can’t find it. Can you please tell me when it will air again? I really want to see it and any other Hailey Dean’s.
Karen says
Love Kellie Martin and Clarence Williams, III. I miss the Mystery Woman series. The cast was perfect and Clarence as Philbie (sp?) was awesome.. I must say, I only “like” the new Hailey Dean mysteries so far. For me, it is very disappointing and just makes me more inclined to say I want more “Mystery Woman” movies 🙂
Denise Mariluch says
They should bring Philbie back in some part loved the Mystery Woman
Debra says
TY so much fr this info! As a cozy buff I look to your blog fr all the good stuff–thanks and keep it coming!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Debra, I like it when I find good news!
Sharon says
Great news, Danna! I’m really looking forward to Nancy Grace’s Hailey Dean. I like Nancy, and I watch her show, but I have not read her novels yet. This will definitely move them up on my to-read list! I just went on Nancy’s and Kellie Martin’s Twitter pages to see if they mentioned this, and they both did! Sounds like Kellie is really excited about her new role. HMM also has many Tweets about this new project. But as you mentioned, no one said anything about dates.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Sharon, Kellie Martin was so good in Mystery Woman >>> I expect and hope this will be good too!
Bev S says
Remember seeing Kellie Martin as Christy in that series many years ago, good possibility it is where she got her start…the series was based on the Catherine Marshall book Christy…a wonderful story of life in the mountains of North Carolina, the close knit community, and the struggles to eke out a living from the Appalachian Mountains…based in part on Catherine Marshall’s mother and her story as a young school teacher. For those who have never read this book, a wonderful story of life overcoming hardship…
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Bev S, “Christy” sounds very good. Kellie Martin started as a child actor when she was really young, I think.
Melissa says
Thanks for the updates!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Melissa, you’re welcome!
Cynthia says
I am excited about the Fixer Upper Mystery movies!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Cynthia, I hope it captures the spirit of the series!
Paula Catherine says
Terrific news!! I am looking forward to all of them. Thanks Danna for all your hard work for us.
I am catching up on the Hallmark Mystery and Movie channel movies so my DVR is hard at work.
I really like Alison Sweeney as Hannah Swenson.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Paula, you’re welcome!
Kerri says
Awesome news! Except I don’t get HMM with my cable package. Any way to stream them???? Had to cut back on expenses, and cable was one…
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Kerri, not that I know of unfortunately. There is a Hallmark website that looks like it streams shows, but the first thing it does is ask for your cable provider.
patti says
Vudu has some as does amazon check there it is the older ones though and not that many
Danna - cozy mystery list says
patti, thanks.
Paula Catherine says
Kerri,
We have very basic cable (Brighthouse in Fl). Halmark M&M was always an additional charge and we, being the original thrifty TV viewer, never signed up for it, however just recently I checked on it and am now able to watch it. Hopeful this is not a fluke but an addition to our basic cable. Maybe you will be fortunate to have it as well!!
Annette says
I just found this blog. I love it!!!
So many great cozy movies to look forward to.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Annette, I’m glad you’re enjoying the site!
Marja says
I hope to catch the Aurora Teagarden mystery. It’ll be interesting to see how they portray her character … shy and a little dorky in the books.
And Yannick Bisson! Great! I love him in “Murdoch Mysteries” — which is a show folks here may enjoy … if you’re not too grossed out by forensic pathology. Murdoch is a total “Boy Scout” and Dr. Julia Ogden, his love interest [and the forensic pathologist], is a fascinating woman of many talents!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Marja, I’m also a fan of the Murdoch Mysteries – isn’t it great when an actor you like from something pops up in another work you are looking forward to?
Kimbee says
That’s a problem here in Canada, it seems to be hit or miss on what Hallmark and Lifetime movies we get to see. A big thank you to those who post them on You tube which is where I watch most of them.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Kimbee, it is too bad that everyone doesn’t get these channels.
lucy says
Wow. What a great season coming up. Thank you for all the information. Glad to know that Kellie Martin will be back in a series. I have liked her since she played Becca in Life Goes On.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
lucy, I agree >>> it looks like a lot of good TV watching is on the way.
Barb says
You are the greatest! Named all my favorite movies…..and stars! Will look up the Nancy Grace series…news to me. I have enjoyed Marcia Clark’s mysteries although they aren’t really too cozy. Thanks again for all your hard work and research.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Barb, you are welcome. I enjoy finding new-to-me TV shows and movies.
Jenni C says
So excited we are finally getting cable that includes these channels! I can finally start watching these mysteries! Thanks, Danna, for going to the effort to list them!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Jenni, that’s great news for you!
GK says
Is the Agatha Raisin Television Series available in the US?
Danna - cozy mystery list says
GK, it is on Acorn, but you need to subscribe.
Janice says
The Agatha Raisin series is coming out on DVD although I’m not sure exactly when. Our local library system is getting several copies so I’ll have a chance to borrow it.
Disa says
Hi, I was wondering if you will be putting these mysteries on Amazon tv or Netflix. I don’t have cable tv. Is there another way I can see these highly desired mystery movie So?
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Disa, unfortunately many Hallmark movies never seem to make it to Amazon or Netflix, and I’m not aware of any other way to get access to these movies other than having access to the channel through cable.
Marla says
Check your local library. I found all of the British shows from Acorn TV there on DVD. Also some of the HM&M dvd’s were there.
Nette says
Are there going to be anymore garage sale mystery movies. I just love these movies and all the cast Lori Loughlin is great in this series of movies
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Nette, I think that there is at least one more being made >>> but I’m not sure when it will be coming out.
Milly says
My favorite movie on mysteries is the Gourmet Detective. Will there be another show after Death Al Dente? I look forward to all the mystery shows.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Milly, unfortunately I haven’t heard anything about further entries in this movie series! Here’s hoping they keep making more.
Susan says
I have seen the commercials for the new Fixer-Upper movie staring Jewel. I normally love all the cozy mystery movies but she looks wrong for the part. I hope I am wrong!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Susan, I’ve heard some other people with similar concerns over casting… I hope it turns out well either way as well!
Victoria says
I love the Murder Mystery series with Kelly Martin and Clarence Williams the III sad that it isn’t on anymore. I wished they had made more.
The new series is OK. I am just partial to the original.
Fixer Upper with Jewel and Colin Ferguson was reslly enjoyable. As the Garage Sale Mystery was.
Will be checking more out!
NME says
I enjoy all of the mystery movies on HMM.
I really wish there were more of the Gourmet Detective…a lot more!
Also more of the Brooke Shields movies.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
NME, I know that there are definitely a lot of people here who agree with you – myself included!
Deb says
Wanting to know if there will be new Flower Shop Mystery movies
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Deb, I’m afraid I don’t know. Hopefully there will be more!
