I am thrilled to discover your website, Being a retired library assistant, it was always a personal joy to recommend many mysteries to my patrons (particularly those with an absence of profanity and /or unsavory situations.). I would like to suggest an author who has been omitted from your list.
Elizabeth Lemarchand (1906-2000) was a former headmistress in a girls academy for close to 40 years. Her Scotland Yard detectives, Inspector Pollard and Sergeant Troy are low key, competent detectives who nevertheless exercise a shrewdness in deduction. I am enclosing a list of all 17 books in this series and they certainly correspond to your definition of a cozy mystery. Be richly blessed!
Series
Pollard and Toye
1. Death of an Old Girl (1967)
2. The Affacombe Affair (1968)
3. Alibi for a Corpse (1969)

5. Cyanide With Compliments (1972)

Thank you so much, Bruce, for telling us about Elizabeth Lemarchand and her Pollard and Toye Mystery Series.

Danna, Thank you for December’s offerings. I wondered if I missed seeing it, but Susan Hill has a new book coming out. It is the latest in her Simon Serrallier series. It was to be published in November 2012. While not truly a “cozy”, it is not a bloody mystery either. I also want to mention another book I just read not a mystery but a GREAT story, Kate Morton’s “The Secret Keeper”. It is a good read with a remarkable twist at the end and no blatant sex scenes.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Regina, I’m going to go edit Susan Hill’s page on Cozy Mystery site right now. Thanks for the information about her new book.
Julia says
I’m looking forward to the new Andrea Penrose – I love a good historical mystery.
Dixie says
I love your website. I am constantly on the look out for new cozy mysteries and you have them right there easy to find…Thanks a lot!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Welcome to the site, Dixie! I’m glad you have found some new authors who you enjoy reading.
Sheila says
Danna. Thanks for the December 2012 book releases. Look forward to your blog on the new releases of the month. There is alway a series that I never read before that I want to try. During Hurricane Sandy my job was closed for 2 days so I did a lot of reading (only could watch TV/weather updates to a point). Thankfully I had power.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
You’re welcome, Sheila.
(I’m glad you were able to weather the storm with power. Hurricane Sandy was such an awful, wide spread disaster.)
linda c says
Sheila, The news reports on that storm showed that all of you along the east coast had a terrible time, some are still having a horrible time. My heart goes out to all of you. Take care. Hope the new storm didn’t effect you too much
Sheila says
Danna and Linda C.
Thank you for your well wishes. I was one of the lucky ones. Survived both Sandy and the Nor’eastern. Power stayed on both times. My nephew and his wife were just able to move back into their home a few days ago.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Oh, Sheila, I could not believe how long some people went without power, or, in the case of your nephew, their homes.
Sheila says
Danna. I know what you mean. I’m just thankful that the wires in my condo complex are underground and the transformer didn’t blow. What is unbelievable is that my nephew lives 1 mile away from his parents and they had power.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Sheila, a few years ago, San Antonio had an ice storm. (Unfortunately, no snow for the children to enjoy – just ice.) Our side of the street went without power for a few days, where as the people right across the street never lost their’s. Odd…
ginger says
There are 31 out of 33 authors that I read listed. I cannot wait to go to buy these books in dec.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Ginger, I know I’ve said this before: You read a whole lot!
linda c says
Danna, I just now clicked on the listing for the Earlene Fowler book. As I clicked on this book I also went down the page to the section that Amazon has showing the listing of “People who liked this book also liked these books.” As I looked through these books I saw where some of my favorites had books coming out and I thought “Hey, I haven’t seen these on your list!!??” So I looked at just when some of these books came out, thinking that I missed them somehow. When I read where some of these books haven’t been released yet I felt kind of foolish. I need to have a little more faith in you and how you do a great job in letting us know ahead of time when these authors will have books coming out. I guess I need to hold onto my horses a little tighter!!
Regina V says
Danna, I just finished reading G.M. Malliet’s new book, “A Fatal Winter.” To be charitable about it, it is a story if you regard it as a parody of previous English Country Christmas novels. It has a castle not completely cut off from town, a priest as a leading character, bickering relatives, and a will. Need I say more? Read it for fun but I was disappointed until I read it that way.

Danna
I just finished Bargain Hunting by Rhonda Pollero. Another great Cozy by Ms Pollero
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Thanks, Jerry, for telling us about how much you like Rhonda Pollero!
Sydney says
My daughter and I really enjoy cozy mysteries. One that we recently discovered and who has a new one out in January is the Miss Dimple series by Mignon Ballard. They are set in the 1940’s in a small town, and we both learned a lot about what people went through during that time. The mysteries are really great also.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Sydney, thank you for telling us about your’s and your daughter’s enjoyment of Mignon F. Ballard‘s Miss Dimple Mystery Series.

I normally don’t read Danielle Steel. My wife and mother-in-law love her books. They suggested I read her new book The Sins of the Mother. I just finished it. No murder. Just a nice story. Highly recommend.

Thanks, Jerry, for telling us about Danielle Steel’s The Sins of the Mother.
linda c says
Danna, Sometimes I wonder if my older sister and I had the same parents. She simply loves Danielle Steel’s books but I have never been able to get interested in any of them enough to finish a book! Then I love John Grisham books, as I have said many times before. I just have a hard time putting his books down. My sister can’t stand these books. I tend to think one of us was switched at the hospital!! Of course, although she was the first daughter but 3rd kid, where I was the second daughter, I was the fifth kid. Since there was one more kid after me I can’t see my parents adopting any more after the 4th kid. She must have been the strangers kid!!! My older brother reads anything. Our other sister and our 2 other brothers read only the newspapers!! Strange family!!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Linda, my sister reads self-help books! At least yours reads mysteries!
Jerry says
I have mentioned Maryjanice Davidson before. I just finished her 11th “Undead book { Undead and Unstable }. If you are into quirky and funny vampire books. This series is for you. Can’t wait for the next one to come out. Danna thank you again for the monthly list.

I enjoy reading. I have read more books in the last 3 years than I have my whole life. That is why I love your site. It gives me great ideas and on the back of some books other author’s comment. I look those up and it gives me more ideas. My wife just finished the third part of Nora Robert’s trilogy “The Perfect Hope “. She said it was great
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Jerry, it’s great that you have been able to find authors you enjoy adding to your queue of authors. I seem to be whittling down my lists, while you seem to be adding to yours!
