It’s been a while since I’ve done a questions post… well, that’s at least partially because it has been a long time since I had accrued enough questions I didn’t have a potential answer for that I thought were “solveable”. But I’ve got enough now… sort of! Frankly, this is still a pretty short list of questions compared to many of these posts in the past, but some of these questioners have been waiting for answers for far too long… so here we go – can anyone help reconnect these site readers with an old favorite they’ve forgotten?
From Margo:
Can someone help me find a book/series/author of a book I read a long time ago. A woman moves to Florida? to work in her Granddads food shop, cookies? and inherits a cottage a good male friend has left her which was a total surprise. She makes the shop busier and finds out more about her friend which comes as a surprise to her.
Thanks for any and all help.
EDIT: Suzy suggests this could be Eve Calder‘s Cookie House Mystery Series.
From Kelly:
I’m looking for a book/series I read about a decade (give or take) ago. A model hired a PI because she thought someone was trying to harm/kill her. I think her name was Jane, and the guy she hired had a name that started with a W. It was the first book of at least 2 that featured the both of them. I believe the cover was teal-ish, and had hand-drawn/cartoon art.
From Patti:
Looking for a series, I don’t remember very much. A lady is renovating a big inn or mansion, it has a set of servant stairs in an unrenovated section that guests are not supposed to use and are separated by a locked door, but some one gets killed on them. Maybe a dog or cat clues the owner to the body. In another book in the series, someone doing renovation to a room (I want to say a ballroom type room) finds an old skeleton in a wall…I think it’s on a bluff, near a river or lake or ocean.
EDIT: Thetarotman suggests this could be the Haunted Home Renovation Mysteries by Juliet Blackwell. Dianne thinks it could be the Secret Staircase by Sheila Connolly. Jeanett thinks it could be the Home Repair is Homicide series by Sarah Graves. Lydia thinks it could be the Fixer Upper Series by Kate Carlisle. All seem like plausible answers!
As always, thanks in advance to anyone who puts forward a potential solution!

Regarding Patti’s question, I AM pretty sure Patti is referring to the “Haunted Home Renovation Mysteries,” by Juliet Blackwell. The first in the series, “If Walls Could Talk,” by Juliet Blackwell. In fact, I devoured that series, as it was so very good.

Thetarotman, that does seem like a possible fit – thanks!
Dianne says
Patti, the one you asked about sounds, like the Secret Staircase by Sheila Connolly. The main female protagonist was trying to renovate a Victorian mansion.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Dianne, that seems like a possible match – I’ll put it up as a potential answer!
Suzy says
For Margo… Look at Eve Calder’s Cookie House Mystery series.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Suzy, thanks – that seems possible, though there are enough questions in this one I can’t be sure.
Nan says
Does anyone know if the final “Cat Who” mystery by Lillian Jackson Braun will ever be published. I think the name of it was “The Cat Who Smelled Smoke?” I was in hopes someone else would step in and continue the series! Thank you!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Nan, it seems unlikely – it’s very rare for another author to come in and continue another author’s series.
Jeanett K says
Patti: Maybe Home Repair is Homicide series by Sarah Graves. Heroine is Jacobia Tiptree. Set on coastal Maine
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Jeanett, that seems possible – I’ll put it up as a possible answer!
Lydia M. says
For Patti – could this be the Fixer Upper series by Kate Carlisle? Honestly I haven’t read this series, but I did see the movies on Hallmark a few years ago. Sounds familiar!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Lydia, that seems possible. I’ll put it up as a potential answer.
Jeanie says
I’ve read all the Fixer Upper series, and this definitely sounds like those!
