Cozy Mystery Site is Now Accessible to Mobile Phones & Tablets

April 20, 2015

Mobile Phone/TabletI have an announcement to make. For those of you who use either your mobile phones or tablets to browse the Cozy Mystery site, my “tech guy” (aka my husband) just reformatted my site so that you can view it on a small screen. (There shouldn’t be much of a difference for those of you who use your computers to see my site.)

I have mentioned that I am a hold-out for my old flip cell phone, but he finally got a smart phone a few months ago. When he accessed my site on his smart phone, he was shocked to see how difficult it was to read.

Long story, short >>> Since 2006 I have used Microsoft Frontpage for the Cozy Mystery site. However, Frontpage has been obsolete/discontinued for years. Frontpage wasn’t able to reformat the site so that you all who use your mobile phones and tablets could see it.

For those of you using your smart phones and tablets, the menu is at the top of your screen on the left side. The menu should be on every page. If you press the menu button (the one with three lines) it will drop the menu down so that it will be easier for you to navigate my Cozy Mystery site. (The mobile menu has been added to the blog too).

Whatever screen you have, big or small, would you please let me know if you notice any glitches? There shouldn’t be any, but my husband isn’t a “real tech guy”, just a dabbler, so there might be some (hopefully minor) glitches. Please let me know, and I’ll pass the information along to him.

You know, they say you should never work with family members. You can’t fire them, but you (I guess I should say “I”!) can always complain!

Wakar, I’m glad we finally converted from Frontpage. When my husband found out how the site looked on his new phone, he was quite surprised. (That will teach us to live in the 2010s!)

I view on my Kindle Fire. I get most things, but sometimes it’s ornery.

Lisa, well now the Cozy Mystery site should be >>> what’s the opposite of ornery? >>> pleasant!

My laptop is in the shop but the new format seems great on my kindle fire. The old way was also good but the new one gives me more ‘finger’ room so I won’t hit the wrong button. Thanks!

Marion, I’m glad it is an improvement on your Kindle Fire. The old way looked like you might have to use a stylus. (Remember those? Good grief, they were used just a few years ago and already they’re “totally over“!)

Lol. I still have to use a stylus on a lot of things where my finger is just too wide for the space provided. Doesn’t’ always work. Learning to just zoom areas, if applicable. Lots of sites haven’t caught up with the 10s! Speaking for myself, I often feel as though I’m still staggering around in the 70s and 80s!

Marion, that’s where I would be if it weren’t for my “tech guy” dragging me into the 21st century. (Well, I’d probably not like disco music!)

Many thanks to your tech guy. The site looks nice on both my computer, my Nook and my cell phone (which is surprising since it’s only a sorta smartphone via Tracfone).

Marie, I’ll pass your thanks to my “tech guy” along. Thank you for letting me know the site looks nice. His major problem was getting the actual site pages to look as much as his boss (that would be me!) insisted on.

Laura, I have to admit to not being any help in this change-over. The most I did was listen to him explain what he was doing, and nodding as if I understood it all!

Marienne, that’s because I didn’t change the blog area. I didn’t ever do the blog on that program. My husband changed the pages of the actual Cozy Mystery site.

Marienne, if you’ve only been on one part of my site, since you have posted comments >>> then you have been on the blog, which my husband didn’t have to change. You probably haven’t visited the main site, which is where I have all of the different themes, authors, etc.

Marienne, the site is: Cozy-Mystery.com, and you can find all of the pages on the left-hand column menu. If you haven’t already visited the site, I strongly recommend the Cozy Mysteries by Themes page. Also, if you’re into Holiday Mysteries this is a good page to go to, then just click on the holidays you’re interested in. Oh, and the Soon to be Released Mysteries page will show you a whole lot of upcoming mystery books. And all of the monthly recommendations are on the Cozy Mystery Books Recommendations page.

Dru, over the years my husband kept telling me that Frontpage had been discontinued and also that it had become obsolete. Making a change was a hassle, but I’m glad it’s done. (I should say “I’m glad he’s done.”!)

It’s a great improvement. I am always on my mini iPad, so when I am browsing your site my finger frequently hits the wrong menu option on your previous site version.

I love that it allows me to swipe right or left for expansion or shrinking of the menu option listing.

Thanks to you, and your behind the scenes partner, for all you do! My virtual bookshelves and TBR lists are overflowing!

Kimmie, I’m glad the site has improved. Hopefully this will mean that I need less “behind the scenes”! I was pretty much lost whenever something got messed up on the old program.

Aha. A menu has started popping up (unsolicited) on my iPad Air. Left side. Black with white type. Takes up about 3/4 of screen.

Kathy, my husband says to touch away from the menu and it should go away or try swiping left. However we don’t have an iPad Air to try it out on.

Susan*, I keep telling him he went into the wrong career. The people in his office would use him instead of the “real” tech guy when they had problems on their computers. He’s just always been interested in gadgets. I’ll let him know. (You’re welcome!)

I am having the same happen that Kathy is on my iPad Air. I just hit the screen and it goes away. It seems to happen when I am reading the blog and I need to slide the page up to finish, thought I was hitting something but I wasn’t aware what it could be.
