TURNER CLASSIC MOVIES CHANNEL MYSTERY MOVIES – November 2025

October 28, 2025

After posting many Turner Classic Movies channel monthly lists of the mystery and crime movies they air during the month, I have come to expect certain things to happen during October, November, and December. I know I mentioned last month that I love the old black and white “Dracula/Frankenstein” movies the channel shows each October. And, I think I mentioned last December that I was surprised the channel wasn’t airing all of the Thin Man movies on the 31st – to take us into the next year. Well, this November I am surprised that I didn’t find a lot of Christmas movies airing during the month. I could be wrong, but it seems to me that the channel used to sprinkle several Christmas themed movies during November.

TURNER CLASSIC MOVIES CHANNEL MYSTERY MOVIES – October 2025

September 24, 2025

Oh my gosh, FALL is finally here! I have to keep reminding myself that it’s autumn, since, as I type this, it’s 97* >>> but wait for it, our temperature has one more forecasted degree to go. Yikes!

Those of you who have been with me for a while know that I will be telling you about the Turner Classic Movies (TCM)channel’s mystery and crime movies this month, but that I will not just be watching the mystery movies, but I’ll be DVR-ing my old horror/science-fiction movies to watch during Halloween’s month. That’s right, I am a fan of the old Dracula-type movies… Luckily, TCM has a bunch of old movies starring Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, Vincent Price, Peter Lorre, Sydney Greenstreet, Basil Rathbone, Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi… and probably some other actors I have missed. (Neither my daughter nor my son have inherited my penchant for those old scary movies, and my husband doesn’t watch them either, so it’s a solitary enjoyment for me!)

There are several Alfred Hitchcock mystery movies that will be showing this month, and some old crime movies will also be sprinkled in during October 2025. Something that I think will be new for TCM during October is a showing of a bunch of old “Man from U.N.C.L.E. movies from the 1960s. (They star Robert Vaughn and David McCallum.)

TURNER CLASSIC MOVIES CHANNEL MYSTERY MOVIES – September 2025

August 24, 2025

Oh my gosh! I keep thinking summer is over, even though our weather is still hot, hotter, hottest! I guess the reason that I think it is Fall is because our neighborhood children have been in school for the last two weeks. That’s right, they started the school year on August 11! (I actually have already put up my autumnal wreath!)

This month, the Turner Classic Movies channel is going to be showing all four of the Agatha Christie Miss Jane Marple movies that Dame Margaret Rutherford starred in: Murder She Said (1961), Murder at the Gallop (1963), Murder Ahoy (1964), and Murder Most Foul (1964). The first three listed will be aired on Monday, September 15 and the 4th will be shown on Sunday, September 21. I must admit that it took some time for me to get used to a lot of the changes these four movies made to Christie’s novels… but I now look forward to watching these movies spin on Miss Marple. (You’ll see what I mean if you watch the movies…) Also, in case you are interested, Tony Randall portrays Christie’s Poirot in The Alphabet Murders (1965) which will air on September 15, after the 3 Miss Marple movies, in which Margaret Rutherford makes a cameo appearance as Miss Marple. I’m looking forward to seeing her in that movie – which I don’t remember ever seeing before.

Here are the mystery and crime movies the Turner Classic Movies channel will be showing during September 2025:

TURNER CLASSIC MOVIES CHANNEL MYSTERY MOVIES – August 2025

July 24, 2025

You know how you immediately associate a particular actor/actress with a fiction character you’re very familiar with? Well, that is how I feel about Edna May Oliver in Stuart Palmer’s Hildegarde Withers (Cozy) mystery series! As far as I’m concerned, Edna May Oliver IS Miss Withers! (The same thing goes for Joan Hickson in Agatha Christie’s Miss Marple (Cozy) mystery series movies.)

Well, here’s some very good news for all of you Cozy Mystery television-watchers! On Monday, August 18 the Turner Classic Movies channel will be showing 3 Hildegarde Withers movies: Penguin Pool Murder (1932), Murder on the Blackboard (1934), and The Plot Thickens (1936). The first two movies star Edna May Oliver and the 3rd one stars ZaSu Pitts. (As much as I enjoy movies with ZaSu Pitts, I just don’t associate her with Miss Withers.) And, on Tuesday, August 19, the Turner Classic Movies channel will continue our viewing enjoyment with Murder on a Honeymoon (1935) starring Edna May Oliver, and Forty Naughty Girls (1938) with ZaSu Pitts.

Be sure to set your recording machines to these fun Cozy Mystery movies!
