Two New Cozy Mystery Series Coming July 2019

June 12, 2019

July will be a relatively light month for new Cozy themed holiday novels and new Cozy series by site authors, with just two Cozy Mystery Series beginning by established site authors.

First, Catherine Bruns will be starting the Italian Chef Mystery Series, with first entry Penne Dreadful. Chef Tessa Esposito is struggling to recover from her husband’s death, and learning from the police that he might have been murdered certainly isn’t helping. Tessa decides that the best way to help out the investigation is to look into the last place he was seen, a local pizza parlor. Catherine Bruns is also the author of the Cookies & Chance Mystery Series, starring a baker in New York, the Carrie Jorgenson Mystery Series, starring an aspiring actress and current waitress in a cafe in Hawaii, and the Cindy York Mystery Series, starring a mother, wife, and real estate agent.

Also, Julia Buckley will be starting the Hungarian Tea House Mystery Series with first entry Death in a Budapest Butterfly. Worker in her family’s tea house serving cakes and teas, Hana Keller is shocked when a customer dies from a poisoned cup of tea, causing Hana and her tea-leaf reading grandmother to investigate the death. Julia Buckley is also the author of the Writer’s Apprentice Mystery Series, starring a writer’s assistant in Indiana, the Undercover Dish Mystery Series, starring a restaurant owner in Illinois, and the Madeline Mann Mystery Series, starring a small-town reporter.

One New Cozy Mystery Series and Three New Holiday-Themed Cozy Mysteries Coming June 2019

May 15, 2019

June will be a relatively good month for Cozy mysteries, with three new holiday-themed Cozy Mysteries by established site authors!

First, Nancy Atherton will be putting out the 24th in her long-running Aunt Dimity Mystery Series, titled Aunt Dimity and the Heart of Gold. This will be a Christmas outing for Aunt Dimity, who will be enjoying the season despite an outbreak of illness in the small English village of Finch. Still, there are enough out and about to attend Emma Harris’s annual Christmas party, and those who do attend will be surprised to find that there will be a mystery needing solving!

Next up, Devon Delaney will be continuing her Cook-Off Mystery Series with its third entry, Guilty as Charred, a Fourth of July themed entry! Competitive cook Sherry Oliveri is in high demand in her hometown in Connecticut, but the holiday is likely to see a bit of a downturn with the death of community garden manager Poppy Robinson. Poppy may not have been the most likable, but that’s no reason to whack someone over the head with a shovel – and now the garden’s future is threatened by an owner unhappy with the development! Can Sherry figure out the culprit in time to return to her Fourth of July cook-off plans?

Finally, Amanda Flower will be putting out Toxic Toffee, the fourth book in her Amish Candy Shop Mystery Series (which I just discussed recently)! Bailey King is in New York to finish up the shooting for her first cable TV show, but she’ll need to make a fast return to Harvest, Ohio, when she hears that local bunny farmer, Stephen Raber has died of what at first seemed to be a heart attack. However, it’s quickly apparent this was no accident – Stephen was poisoned, and by a piece of toffee! Amanda Flower writes many other mystery series, including the Magical Bookshop Mystery Series, the Amish Matchmaker Mystery Series, the Magic Garden Mystery Series, and the Living History Mystery Series.

Three New Cozy Mystery Series Coming May 2019

April 6, 2019

We won’t be getting any new holiday-themed Cozies from site authors next month, but we will be fortunate enough for three new series to be starting instead!

First up, Mollie Cox Bryan will be starting the Classic Star Biography Mystery Series with The Jean Harlow Bombshell. Charlotte Donovan is the assistant to Justine Turner, a world-famous biographer of Hollywood stars who has started on a Jean Harlow biography. But when Justine turns up dead, Charlotte takes up the writing on the biography – only to be stalked by a Jean Harlow look-alike. Charlotte will need to solve the mystery not only to finish her book, but to preserve her own safety and determine exactly what happened to her boss. Mollie Cox Bryan is also the author of the Cora Crafts Mystery Series, the Cumberland Creek Mystery Series, and the also-upcoming Buttermilk Creek Mystery Series.

Next, Leighann Dobbs will be starting her Oyster Cove Guesthouse Mystery Series with A Twist in the Tail. Josie Waters has left her old life and ex-husband to start a new life running the Oyster Cove Guesthouse on the Maine coast, but she hasn’t realized that the building is a dilapidated old building in need of significant work… and even worse, her first guest turns up dead! Leighann Dobbs is also the author of the Lexy Baker Mystery Series, the Blackmoore Sisters Romantic Cozy Mystery Series, and the co-author of several other series as well.

Finally, The Scent of Murder will be the first entry in the new Jazz Ramsey Mystery Series by Kylie Logan. Though Jazz Ramsey’s main job is as an administrative assistant at a girls school, she’s more passionate about her volunteer interest as a cadaver dog handler. But when Jazz is out working with Luther, a dog in training, she’s surprised when Luther signals a find – and even more surprised when she recognizes the victim! Kylie Logan also writes the League of Literary Ladies Mystery Series, the Ethnic Eats Mystery Sereis, the Chili Cook-Off Mystery Series, and the Button Box Mystery Series. She also writes as Casey Daniels, under which name she has written the Pepper Martin Mystery Series, and as Miranda Bliss, the name she used when writing the Cooking Class Mystery Series.

One New Cozy Mystery Series, One New Cozy Mystery Holiday Book Coming April 2019

March 13, 2019

As I mentioned in another recent post, I’ll be going back to highlighting upcoming new Cozy Mystery Series and holiday-themed Cozy Mysteries a month ahead of time, as that was the slight preference among site readers who posted an opinion in the comments. So now it’s time to talk about April’s Cozies in both categories!

First we’ll have one new series, the Speakeasy Mystery Series by Susanna Calkins, which will be beginning with Murder Knocks Twice. This period piece set in the 1920s will star Gina Ricci, a cigarette girl in an illegal speakeasy club during Prohibition. Gina’s warned about the unexplained death of her predecessor by the club’s photographer, Marty – who then turns up dead himself. Gina will need to hunt down the killer, not only to find out who killed her friend, but to keep herself from becoming another victim! Susanna Calkin is also the author of the Lucy Campion Mystery Series, another period piece which I have already written a post on.

The other mystery is a Mother’s Day-themed Cozy novella by Lynn Cahoon in her Tourist Trap Mystery Series titled Mother’s Day Mayhem. Jill Gardner is preparing for Mother’s Day by stocking up more Mother’s Day cards for her store, Coffee, Books, and More, when she’s consulted by a neighboring store owner who is returning for the first time in many years – years she has spent in jail. I’ve also written another article on the Tourist Trap Mystery Series, and Lynn Cahoon is also the author of the Cat Latimer Mystery Series and the Farm-to-Fork Mystery Series.
