Cabins and/or Cottages in the Canadian North, Arlington Street and Katherine Gibbs School in Boston Garden Area, Roxy and Our Lady…

December 18, 2010

Here are three questions posed by Cozy Mystery readers. You all have been so helpful (many times!) in the past, so here goes:

Sherri asks:

I’m wondering if anyone knows of any cozy mysteries with a cabin/cottage theme; particularly about the Canadian North.

 Ceci’s question is:

A few months ago I saw a mystery book at my local Costco ….. I went back and cannot find it there. Unfortunately, I cannot remember the author nor the title. I do remember there a map of Boston on the inside cover. It showed the Boston Garden area. The main character lived on Arlington Street near Katherine Gibbs School. I would love to read this book. Is this enough information to give me the title/author?

And, this is more of a “group” question:

Why did they change the name of Nancy Martin’s Our Lady of Immaculate Deception to Foxy Roxy >>> with only a year between publications?

If you know the answers to any of the three questions, please post a comment.

Authors Similar to Charlaine Harris, Can't/Won't Eat, AND What about Elaine Flinn & Charlene Weir?

November 10, 2010

I am (again) going to ask for help from you all. I have three Cozy Mystery site readers who would like some information.

Stephanie asked:

“Could you give some recommendations for those who love the Charlaine Harris mysteries? I loved the Lily Bard, Harper Connelly, Aurora Teagarden, and Sookie Stackhouse series immensely and don’t know what to read next now that I’ve finished them all.”

JoAnn asked:

“There are a couple of series that both my sister and I really miss, the first is the “Molly Doyle” series by Elaine Flinn and the other was Chief Sue Wren series by Charlene Weir. I really loved these characters and miss them. Can anyone find out what happened?”

Maureen asked:

“… I read a cozy sometime last year and can’t remember what the title is. I’d like to read another in the series and I looked through your culinary cozies but didn’t see it. The main female character was divorced and had a young man living in her house that wouldn’t couldn’t eat and she would cook different foods to tempt him to eat. I believe she had a son and his father was accused of murder… Does anyone remember the author or the series?!”

If you can help Stephanie, JoAnn, and/or Maureen, please post a comment. Thank you!

Mystery Books Authors' Identities…

August 10, 2010

Since we weren’t able to successfully identify the two authors  Gayle and Susan would like identifying, I decided to lump them in with a third request. I sure hope that we can identify the three mystery authors…

Kathy writes:  “I am trying to find the author of couple of books I read.  The female owns a large house that she has to rent out because she can’t afford the payments and lives on the ground above the garage?   I think she also occasionally pet sits or walks dogs.  Any leads would be greatly appreciated.”

Gayle writes: “… They are set up around the Smoky Mts. This man is rich, has a huge mansion, attends parties in Knoxville, and has these people that work for him to solve mysteries. During one of the mysteries he meets a woman, falls in love with her and brings her there to mansion.”

Susan writes: “…The mystery solver was a housewife, I think.  One of her neighbors was a large and growing Catholic family who named their children after saints.  One of the sons, named Pix after Pius X, helped her out in her mystery solving.  Do you know what this series is?”

I know that it hasn’t been long since I asked for the identification help for the last two, but I am hoping that someone who didn’t see the previous entry might read this one. Please post a comment if you have any helpful suggestions for Kathy, Gayle or Susan.

Need Help Identifying Mystery Book Series with Pix & Smoky Mountains…

July 24, 2010

OK, Cozy Mystery site readers >>> I am (again!!!) asking for your help. I have received two requests for help in identifying two mystery series. (As you all know… since I have repeatedly written about it… When I started the site I ONLY had pages for authors I was familiar with… authors who I read and enjoyed. Now, however, with all of the recommendations from site readers about authors who they think belong on the site, I am no longer familiar with all of them. And, let’s be honest… I would have to be a Summa Cum Laude graduate of the Evelyn Wood Speed Reading Course to have read all of the authors on the site!)

Getting back to my requests…

Gayle writes: “… They are set up around the Smoky Mts. This man is rich, has a huge mansion, attends parties in Knoxville, and has these people that work for him to solve mysteries. During one of the mysteries he meets a woman, falls in love with her and brings her there to mansion.”

Here is Susan’s request: “…The mystery solver was a housewife, I think.  One of her neighbors was a large and growing Catholic family who named their children after saints.  One of the sons, named Pix after Pius X, helped her out in her mystery solving.  Do you know what this series is?”

Please post a comment if you have any helpful suggestions for Gayle or Susan.
