Still Need Mystery Readers' Help in Solving Mysteries of the Mystery Series…

April 23, 2010

We need help in identifying three mystery book authors>>>

1.  Tracy has asked for help identifying this mystery book author:

“I’m trying to remember the series that takes place in late Victorian England say the 1900s. It’s a husband and wife team. He is a policeman and the wife helps out along with a young, shy housekeeper? They have a couple of children and that’s all I can remember. I thought I’d kept one of the books, but didn’t and now I’m searching for the series so I can enjoy some more of their escapades.”

2.  And, while I’m asking for help >>> My husband suggested that I post this again, since in the past, Cozy Mystery site readers have been able to come up with the identities of a number of mystery book authors and their mystery book series. Sandy is still looking for:

” The main characters where divorced but back together and I believe the woman was an accountant or investment broker. The husband inherited a trunk of treasure/gold? from a wayward uncle.”

3.  And here’s one more unidentified author (from Danna – me):

“The first book in the mystery series had an older woman going to some sort of spa (I think in Great Britain) where no one locked the doors to their rooms. The woman (sleuth) was able to go into other people’s rooms because of the no-lock situation, since all of the spa residents were ‘upper crust’ people, which of course meant that there was no need to lock the rooms, thanks to their codes of honor. This is not much information, but it is all I can remember about the series, other than I enjoyed the first book. Unfortunately I read it right before I realized that I needed to start writing down the names of all of the authors I enjoy reading.”

So, Cozy Mystery Site Readers, it’s up to you all to help us solve these mysteries!  Thank you (in advance!)

Could You, Would You, Vote, Vote, Vote!?!

April 12, 2010

Most of you are familiar with Maria E. Schneider, a site reader who writes mysteries AND frequently leaves comments here. Some of you may remember when Maria asked us to help her decide on the book cover for her last book, Executive Lunch.

Maria has a new book that is in the process of being published, and she would like some help deciding which of book covers is the most preferred by mystery readers. Maria has the possible covers from which to choose for her new book, Tracking Magic.

Here is her site’s address to go cast your ballot:

http://www.bearmountainbooks.com/ (The voting is over.)

I know which one I like the most, how about you?

Site Reader Needs Help Solving Mystery of Mystery Book Author's Mysterious Identity…

April 11, 2010

As some of you know, I sometimes ask your help in solving little mysteries for some of the Cozy Mystery Site readers. This comes to us from Sandy:

“I was hoping one of the cozy mystery fanatics like myself would be able to help me find a series I “found” and “lost” a few years ago. The main characters where divorced but back together and I believe the woman was an accountant or investment broker. The husband inherited a trunk of treasure/gold? from a wayward uncle.

Does this ring any bells for anyone? I have been looking for awhile now and have googled every combination of the info I could think of but haven’t been able to find this series.

Thanks in advance for any help any one can provide.”

OK, Cozy Mystery Readers… Your mission, should you agree to accept it >>> Let’s see if we can come up with the name of the author and/or mystery series for Sandy!

Looking for Mystery Book Authors Who Write a la Anne George, Patricia Wentworth, or Very Funny…

March 19, 2010

Here are a few request for help from  Cozy Mystery site readers. If you have any ideas for them, please post a comment.

Kayanna writes (regarding the Texas list of authors):

“I love these books from Texas, and I notice that books from the South (which may not include all of Texas, I’m not entirely clear on the concept!) seem to have a similar flavor and pride of place.
Do you already have a Southern list? I know it’s a state of mind! I’d love to find more books written from that perspective. They often write about small town values; respect, honoring parents, but they don’t take themselves too seriously. I’m thinking of Anne George and Patricia Sprinkle’s Southern series here, and some of the Texan authors exude that same charm. I’m rereading Anne George for the millionth time, but I’m looking for more like her!”

G’ann writes:

“I am reading my last Miss Silver mystery (I’ve collected them from local bookstores and Amazon and a British site). I have loved them! I need another good author. I am really interested in wholesome reading. Does not have to be a mystery, but well written. (I loved Green Dolphin Street.) I will check out your “cozy mystery” authors at the library. Any other suggestions? Thank you.”

Micky writes:

“Could you recommend some cozies that really tickle the funnybone?  I know most cozies have some humor but I really would love to read a series that gives me belly laughs.  Please provide a list for me.”

If you have any ideas for books that you think fall into one of the above categories, please post a comment. And, thank you!

Here are some recommendations by site readers:

I just posted a page for the Miss Read books which Barbara suggests in a comment below… (re: “Miss Silver”)

Petie recommends Nancy Bell…

Sheila recommends Janet Evanovich

Sue T. recommends the following authors:
