Cozy Mystery News – August 2023

I’ve got one new piece of Cozy News for you about a site author!

Mary Angela‘s three novel mystery series, the Happy Camper Mystery Series, which stars a former journalist named Zo Jones who owns a gift shop in South Dakota, will be getting an audio adaptation. Angela is also the author of the Professor Prather Mystery Series, which stars an English professor in South Dakota.

(I don’t normally mention audio adaptations, but it feels like it’s been a long time since I’ve been able to give good Cozy Mystery news… )

Cozy Mystery News – May 2023

I’ve got one new piece of Cozy News for you about a site author!

Karen E. Olson will be starting a new mystery series that will be a “modern take” on Henry VIII and his wives, apparently taking place in modern day Greenwich, Connecticut, when he and his sixth wife discover a headless body when visiting his summer home as part of their honeymoon. Olson hasn’t written much in the “Cozy” space for a while – she does have two other mystery series on the site, the first of which is the Tattoo Shop Mystery Series, starring a tattoo shop manager in Las Vegas, and the Annie Seymour Mystery Series, starring a reporter in Connecticut. She has written a few things in the meantime, but this will be the first “Cozy” sounding mystery from her in a decade.

Cozy Mystery News – April 2023

I’ve got two more pieces of good news about established Cozy Mystery site authors!

First, Peggy Ehrhart will be putting out at least two new Knit & Nibble Cozy Mysteries, plus an Easter-themed novella, over the course of 2024 to 2026. This will bring the series starring Pamela Patterson, a widow, empty nester, associate editor of a craft magazine, and founder of a knitting club to at least 12 entries. 

 

Lynn Cahoon will be writing three more entires in the Tourist Trap Mystery Series, which will bring the series to at least 17 entries. Cahoon is also the author of the Farm-to-Fork Mystery Series, the Cat Latimer Mystery Series, the Kitchen Witch Mystery Series, and the Survivors’ Book Club Mystery Series.

Cozy Mystery News: Hallmark Aurora Teagarden Continuing

Well, I’ve already put up a news post this month, or I might have folded this into that… but apparently Hallmark has decided to continue the Aurora Teagarden franchise, based off of the mystery series by Charlaine Harris. Having lost much of the original cast, instead of attempting to continue the series going forward, they will be making a prequel movie with several key roles recast. Marilu Henner will still be featured as Aurora’s mother Aida, but Skyler Samuels will be taking up the role of Aurora, while Evan Roderick will be playing Arthur Smith.

Personally, I think this is great news, and I’m glad to see the series continue in whatever form. Samuels and Roderick are obviously much younger than the role has been played before, but considering that this is intended to be a prequel to the existing series certainly helps that make a lot of sense.
