Cozy Mystery News – August 2021

Well, I know this is a bit late in the month, but I do have plenty of Cozy mystery news to share with you, having four pieces of news about Cozy Mystery authors.

First, Anna Lee Huber will be continuing her Verity Kent Mystery Series with at least three more entries, bringing the series to at least eight total novels. At least one will feature the investigation of a disappearing colleague, but unfortunately no news yet on titles for any of the new entries.

 

Next up, Amy Patricia Meade will be continuing her Tish Tarragon Mystery Series with at least two more entries, bringing the series to at least seven entries. Again, unfortunately I don’t have any news on specific titles.

 

 

 

Andrea Penrose will be continuing the Wrexford & Sloane Mystery Series with a sixth entry, titled Murder at the Merton College Library. This particular entry will focus on the investigation of the death of an Oxford University librarian and the disappearance of several rare books on geology.

 

Finally, Paige Shelton will be putting out at least two more entries in the Alaska Wild Mystery Series, which will bring the series to at least five entries.

August 23 to August 29, 2021

Maddie Day (aka Edith Maxwell & Tace Baker): No Grater Crime (This will be the 9th in the Country Store Mystery Series.)

J.C. Eaton: Railroaded 4 Murder (This will be the 8th in the Sophie Kimball Mystery Series.)

Kate Parker: Deadly Cypher (This will be the 7th in the Deadly Mystery Series.)

Louise Penny: The Madness of Crowds (This will be the 17th in the Chief Inspector Gamache Mystery Series.)

Karen Rose Smith: Murder with Orange Pekoe Tea (This will be the 7th in the Daisy’s Tea Garden Mystery Series.)

August 9 to August 15, 2021

Here is the list of new releases for August 9 to August 15! (I really thought I had already posted this one… not sure how I missed it until almost out of the week…)

Lucy Burdette (aka Roberta Isleib): A Scone of Contention (This will be the 11th in the Key West Food Critic Mystery Series.)

Ellen Byron (aka Maria DiRico): Cajun Kiss of Death (This will be the 7th in the Cajun Country Mystery Series.)

Sarah Fox: A Wrinkle in Thyme (This will be the 8th in the Pancake House Mystery Series.)

Betty Hechtman: One for the Hooks (This will be the 14th in the Crochet Mystery Series.)

Leslie Langtry: Mosquito Bite Murder (This will be the 19th in the Merry Wrath Mystery Series.)

Marcia Muller: Ice and Stone (This will be the 35th in the Sharon McCone Mystery Series.)

Three New Holiday Cozies and One New Cozy Mystery Series Coming September 2021

September will be a pretty good month for holiday and new Cozy series, with three holiday Cozies and one new Cozy mystery series by an established author.

First up, Catherine Bruns will be releasing Dessert is the Bomb, the 11th in the Cookies & Chance Mystery Series, a Halloween-themed mystery. Sally (Sal) Muccio is preparing for Halloween, partially by preparing to cater a party at her father’s funeral home, but her business is under more than a bit of pressure by a new competing bakery opening up just across the street. When her new rival is killed by an explosion, Sal will need to solve the murder before she ends up behind bars.

Next, Krista Davis will be releasing Murder Outside the Lines, the third in the Pen & Ink Mystery Series, and likewise a Halloween-themed mystery. Bookstore manager and coloring book creator Florrie Fox is preparing for the Halloween season when a local celebrity medium claims that she saw a foot sticking out of rolled up carpet in a nearby alley – but nothing is there when the police investigate. Later, a local book lover disappears, and Florrie feels she has to investigate to ensure that there isn’t a miscarriage of justice. 

The last of our Holiday-themed Cozies for September is A Killer Christmas Wish, the 7th in the Cat Latimer Mystery Series and a Christmas book. Note that I can’t find a page list for this particular book, so it might be a novella or short story instead of a full book. Christmas is approaching a bit early, but Cat Latimer isn’t quite ready to get into the holiday spirit, especially when one of a group of non-fiction authors preparing to take advantage of Cat’s monthly writing retreat turns up dead.

Finally, we’ll also have a new Cozy Mystery Series starting in September, the Catskill Summer Resort Mystery Series by author Vicky Delany, which will be starting with first entry Deadly Summer Nights. Elizabeth Grady’s mother has just bought Haggerman’s Catskills Resort, and she’s still getting used to helping out at the resort. Unfortunately, the death of a reclusive guest, and the discovery of a copy of the Communist Manifesto in his cabin threaten her mother’s new business, so Elizabeth will need to investigate herself to keep the venture afloat.
