Scotland: Cozy Mystery Books with a Scottish Theme

I have had several requests for a Scottish Cozy Mystery theme, and I have finally put it together.

Cozy Mystery authors who feature Scotland or Scottish characteristics in their books:

Donald Bain: The Highland Fling Murders – Jessica Fletcher and some of her Cabot Cove friends visit a Scottish castle.

D.B. Barton: Singing Sleuth Mystery Series – Alec DunBarton is a Scottish band auditor and cruise ship employee.

M.C. Beaton (aka Marion Chesney): Hamish Macbeth Mystery Series – Hamish is the local constable in Lochdubh, Scotland.

Rhys Bowen: Royal Spyness Mystery Series – Lady Georgiana, although not rich, is still the 34th in line to the British throne!

C.S. Challinor: Rex Graves Mystery Series – Rex Graves is a Scottish barrister.

Ann Cleeves: Shetland Island Quartet Mystery Series – reportedly not Cozy

Kaitlyn Dunnett (aka Kathy Lynn Emerson): Liss MacCrimmon Mystery Series – Liss MacCrimmon is a Scottish troupe dancer, who lives in Maine.

Amanda Flower (aka Isabella Alan): Magic Garden Mystery Series – Fiona is a florist who is from the USA.

Patience Griffin: Kilts and Quilts Series – Cozy but not mysteries

Anna Lee Huber: Lady Darby Mystery Series

Alanna Knight: Rose McQuinn Mystery Series

Molly MacRae: The Highland Bookshop Mystery Series stars the co-owner of a book store in Scotland.

Sharyn McCrumb: Elizabeth MacPherson Mystery Series – Elizabeth, a forensic anthropologist, loves her Scottish fiancé and everything else that has to do with Scotland.

Val McDermid: Lindsay Gordon Mystery Series

Catriona McPherson: Dandy Gilver Mystery Series –  Dandy (short of Dandelion Dahlia) is a wealthy sleuth who lives in Scotland during the 1920s.

Melinda Mullet: Whisky Business Mystery Series – Abi Logan is a Scottish photojournalist.

Hannah Reed (aka Deb Baker): Scottish Highlands Mystery Series – Eden Elliott is a recently single author living in the Scottish Highlands.

Paige Shelton: Scottish Bookshop Mystery Series – Delaney Nichols has moved to Scotland from Kansas and works at a rare book/manuscript shop in Edinburgh.

Fran Stewart: ScotShop Mystery Series -Peggy Winn owns the ScotShop, a store in Vermont that specializes in Scottish items. (Peggy has a 14th century Scottish specter who accompanies her.)

You know, I have themes for quilting, and knitting, crocheting, needlework, & needlecrafts, but it never occurred to me to have a sewing theme >>> until I was asked if there were any sewing themed Cozies. Hmmm, let me think…

State Motto: The life of the land is perpetuated in righteousness.

Fashion Theme in Cozy Mystery Books

fashionI have added a few Cozy Mystery authors to the site who have fashionista sleuths. Last week, when I went to add one of them to my fashion theme, I realized I didn’t have one! I had a tentative fashion theme going, but I hadn’t finalized it for the site yet. I finally did that today. So, here goes:

Victoria Abbott (Mary Jane Maffini & Victoria Maffini): Book Collector Mystery Series – Jordan Kelly loves wearing vintage clothes..

Juliet Blackwell (aka Hailey Lind): Witchcraft Mystery Series – Lily Ivory owns a vintage clothing shop in San Francisco

Annette Blair: Vintage Magic Mystery Series – Madeira Cutler has renovated an old funeral home into her vintage clothing store.

Melissa Bourbon (aka Misa Ramirez): Magical Dressmaking Mystery Series – Harlow Cassidy is a fashion designer who owns her own boutique in Texas.

Sandra Bretting: Missy DuBois Mystery Series – Missy designs hats and sells them in her shop.

Jenn McKinlay (aka Josie Belle  & Lucy Lawrence): Hat Shop Mystery Series – Floridian Scarlett Parker and her British cousin (Viv Tremont) inherit their grandmother’s hat shop in London.

Kate Parker: Milliner Mystery Series – Emily Gates is the milliner sleuth who has to resort to robbing her clients who won’t pay for their hats – during the early 1900s in London.

Rose Pressey: Haunted Vintage Mystery Series – Cookie Chanel owns It’s Vintage Y’All, a vintage clothing store in Sugar Creek, Georgia.

S.J. Rozan: Mandarin Plaid – Lydia Chin is on the search for a fashion designer’s design book with designs that are worth a lot of money.

Sofie Ryan (aka Sofie Kelly): Second Chance Cat Mystery Series – Sarah’s best friend owns the Second Chance second-hand shop that carries vintage clothes.

Angela M. Sanders: Vintage Clothing Mystery Series – Joanna Hayworth owns a vintage clothing store in Portland.

Rosemary Stevens (aka Rosemary Martin): Beau Brummell Mystery Series – Beau Brummell is a Regency era (1790 – 1820) fashion expert in London.

Fran Stewart: ScotShop Mystery Series – Peggy Winn sells Scottish kilts and describes the different plaids of the clans.

Susan Sundwall: Minnie Markwood Mystery Series – Minnie’s sidekick Rashawna is a fashonista.
