Here’s a Quick Update about My Cozy Mystery Site…

April 9, 2017

I know it’s the weekend, so I’ll keep this short. I just want to tell you all that I have updated some pages on my Cozy Mystery site. I think you’ll be pleased to know that several of your favorite Cozy authors are releasing new Cozies. Yes, I’ve updated the Soon to be Released Mysteries page (which you can visit by clicking on that link).

Also, on the New Cozy Mystery Book Series page (again, you can just click on the link to take you there) you will find that some of our favorite Cozy authors will be starting new Cozy Mystery series this year.

Since there are new Cozy Mystery series that will be starting soon, this means that I updated some of the Cozy Mysteries by Theme page on the site.

I also had a few new entries on some of the Christmas Mystery Books pages and the Halloween Mystery Books page. (Which reminds me, if you see any holiday Cozies that I’ve missed, I would sure love hearing from you!)

My Cozy Christmas Reading…

December 6, 2016

Christmas PuppyI just finished reading both The Neon Ornaments, a novella in Camille Minichino‘s Periodic Table Mystery Series and The Deadliest Christmas Pageant Ever, a novella in Teresa Trent‘s Pecan Bayou Mystery Series. Both of these Cozy Mystery authors are authors I really enjoy reading, and they are both on my favorite authors list.

Let’s see, what else do I have to tell you about … Oh, I started putting our Christmas decorations up after Thanksgiving and am finally finished. Having our puppy, Cocoa, under foot made it a little more taxing than it would have ordinarily been. It’s been so many years since our Sprite was a puppy, so I had sort of forgotten how much more time it takes while being careful not to drop anything on the floor.

I sure enjoyed seeing all the ornaments as I unwrapped them. In the past I have mentioned that the only ornaments I decorate our tree with are those that our son and daughter made while growing up as well as ornaments made out of their tiny toys. I was transported back to when our children’s little, itty-bitty hands played with these beloved toy characters (I hang them on the tree with festive Christmas ribbons). Little, itty-bitty Transformers, My Little Ponies, Care Bears, Bert, Ernie, Cookie Monster, and Oscar, etc. Boy, do they take me back!

I certainly hope all of you are enjoying this holiday season. Whether it’s Christmas, pre-Hanukkah, pre-Kwanzaa, or simply the winter season!

Happy Thanksgiving! The Stores Have Been Telling Me It’s Christmas for Weeks Already…

November 24, 2016

ThanksgivingHappy Thanksgiving to all!

This year I went directly from reading a Halloween Cozy to a Christmas Cozy. That’s right, I skipped Thanksgiving. (Well, actually I am planning on reading several of the Thanksgiving stories from a few of The Killer Wore Cranberry anthologies I have bought, but I almost couldn’t help myself jump right into Christmas Cozies.)

Why? – you may be wondering. I have five possible reasons:

  1. I saw my first Christmas advertisement on TV before Halloween.
  2. There are fewer Thanksgiving Cozies available than Christmas Cozies.
  3. I’ve been watching the Hallmark Christmas movies for almost a month.
  4. It’s unusually warm here in San Antonio.
  5. All the stores have had their Christmas items displayed for weeks.

How about you? What types of Cozies are you reading right now? Are you still reading a Halloween Cozy or are you reading a Thanksgiving Cozy? Are you like me – and are already into your Christmas Cozies? Of course, there’s always a chance that you’re reading a non-holiday cozy…

P.S. Here is the list I’ve compiled of  Thanksgiving mysteries, here’s the Christmas list (which is so long that there are several pages of them!), and for those of you still interested in Halloween mysteries, here’s the Halloween mystery book list.

ID Channel’s Nightmare Next Door with Diane Vallere

November 5, 2016

tv1111111111sphjsjhI think I may have mentioned (once or twice…) that I like true crime shows. (I don’t watch all of them – that would be a 24/7 hobby!) As I watch the shows I find myself in a state of disbelief that these are true crimes – not fiction TV. I can’t help but imagine how these awful, cruel things can be carried out by people. The results are so profound and permanent for the victims, and their family and friends >>> whose lives will never be the same. I often find myself wondering how stupid and self-aggrandizing these terrible animals are. When I hear a person say these killers are “sick” I usually find myself actually talking back to the TV. Sick is NO excuse for their actions! (OK, now I’ll get off my soapbox and get to why I am telling you about a show I just watched…) The particular show I’m telling you about is very sad and totally senseless. (Let’s face it, all of the cases they highlight are senseless!)

One of the shows I watch on the ID (Investigation Discovery) channel is Nightmare Next Door. Well, while I was watching last night’s episode (“A Strange Trust” – season 6, episode 10), I couldn’t believe it when one of my favorite authors appeared as one of the commentators of the crime. That’s right! One of our Cozy Mystery authors was on the show giving background information!

So, for those of you who have access to the ID channel, be sure to set your DVRs up in order to see none other than Diane Vallere, author of the Style & Error, Material Witness, Costume Shop, & Mad for Mod (one of my very favorite) mystery series. The next showing of this particular show is Sunday, November 13 at 1 PM (central).
