Happy Father’s Day to those of you who are dads, or are dad figures.

I just looked up Father’s Day and was (sort of) surprised to see that it was “invented” after Mother’s Day, so that fathers could get the recognition they so rightly deserve. Mother’s Day was made official in 1914, however it took many years to finally get Father’s Day signed in as a law  – 1972.

Fathers everywhere should enjoy the third Sunday of every June, (along with the other 364 days of the year!)

I meant to tell you in my Memorial Day greeting that I got home last week. We wanted to get back in time for our daughter to come home over the Memorial Day weekend. Once she moves to New Orleans, we won’t be able to see her very often.

There were several changes in my mother’s care while I was there. One of the three ladies who comes in to spend time with her has been moved to another “client”. That is great for the two caregivers who didn’t get along, but in the long run, my mother (the “client”) is the one who loses out. (Can you tell I’m not very happy about this change?) She was pretty used to two of her three “ladies” >>> since they had been with her for about a year. Unfortunately, jealousy has a bad way of appearing when and where you would least expect it!

As I mentioned in one of my comments last week, we joined my younger brother while he bought a new truck. I’m glad I was able to spend the time with him. Lately, when I visit my mother, I spend the entire time with her, so it was especially nice to spend a few hours with my brother.

The weather was absolutely beautiful. Very déjà vu-ish for me… Took me back to when I taught school out there, before I moved with my husband.

I hope ALL of you have a healthy and happy Memorial Day. Today is a day of flags, flowers, and barbeques, AND also a day to think of, honor, and thank those brave men and women who have given so much for our country.

I will post a “regular” Cozy Mystery entry tomorrow morning, but I just wanted to let you all know that I am still in Colorado Springs. Everything is going really well. My husband and I were able to go out truck shopping with my younger brother, which turned out to be a great experience.

All seems to be in order at my mother’s house. The ladies who come in and help her seem to be doing their jobs, which is a great relief to me. I so wish my mom would move down to San Antonio to be with us, but she keeps insisting that she doesn’t want to leave her friends.

Our son has nothing to report about our house, which is another relief. I love that he can take care of it! It enables me to worry, worry, and worry some more about my mom. My husband assures me that all is well, but, you know how it is.

The weather has been absolutely a joy to experience. I don’t know if it’s because I am used to our high humidity, but it seems mighty dry to me up here. I don’t remember it being a problem when I lived here. I guess it’s all relative…
