OK, so I was previously wrong about the title for the new police procedural, but I am correct about it now… Blue Bloods is finally here! At the risk of repeating myself (since I already wrote an entry about this new CBS show) please click on the link above to get the specifics. (Just disregard the first few paragraphs of that entry…)
But of course, as I am rarely not more verbose than I need to be, let me just say, I have already set up our mode of taping>>> Actually, I have set this show up on three modes of taping! That’s how excited I am about trying this new police procedural. (Before I forget, Blue Bloods is on TONIGHT… on CBS, 9:00 for us, but check with your time regions…)
Boy! Was I perplexed when I last saw Donnie Wahlberg on Rizzoli and Isles – as the new boss at the precinct who grew up with Rizzoli. (And, “old boss” since he was only at the precinct a few episodes before being promoted.) I thought that perhaps Blue Bloods had been cancelled and this was his new gig. I actually Googled to make sure that this was just a temporary guest spot for him. I was relieved to see that Blue Bloods was still in the CBS plans…
Here’s hoping that Blue Bloods is as good as some of us hope that it is!

Okay, this will show my age, but I was in love with Donnie Wahlberg when I was a teen girl and he was in New Kids on the Block. LOL I apparently have a thing for the Wahlberg men as I’ll watch just about anything he or his brother Mark are in. Good looking guys. Add that it’s a police show and I’m there!

I’m also looking forward to this show, but, mostly because of the Tom Selleck angle – I miss my Magnum!! LOL! But hopefully it’s horrible time slot won’t keep people from watching it (fingers crossed).

Tracy… talk about showing ages… I was a fan of Magnum, PI!
Sunny, I’m with you on that awful time slot! It’s like they CBS is daring this show to succeed!
A police procedural will be great, but Donnie for some, and Tom for others, surely won’t hurt!
Petie says
I’m with you & Sunny when it comes to Tom Selleck! And for the record: if there is ever any movie or movie-made-for-TV about the CAT WHO books of Lilian Jackson Braun, Tom Selleck should be “Qwill” !
gad1n10 says
@Petie… Interesting, I’ve never given much thought as to what Qwill looks like, but I can tell you it’s not Tom Selleck. Completely wrong body type/look. Quill is more ‘down-to-earth’ with a side of sophistication. A shorter Stephen Fry? I’ll have to give this some thought 😉
Ricky Lake didn’t match my perception of Mary Haristeen (Mrs Murphy/Rita Mae Brown) but she was surprising good. But, sorry, No to Tom!

Petie and Gad, it’s funny how we all can have definite ideas about who should play the major characters in our favorite Cozy Mysteries.
I remember when I belonged to an online mystery book reading group years ago, and we were all talking about who we thought would be an ideal candidate for playing Stephanie Plum in a movie. All of the suggestions by the other members of the group were for actresses who seemed (to me) to not be quirky enough for this roll.
I had just seen Martha Plimpton in The Beans of Egypt, Maine, and ever since then, every time I see the “who should play Stephanie Plum” game… I absolutely KNOW it can only be Martha Plimpton!

Also, does anyone remember when they made a television movie of one of the Joan Hess Maggody mysteries? They cast Kate Jackson in the roll of Arly Hanks… and the rest is history! (There were never any sequels made!!!)
