Ann, take a look at M. C. Beaton’s list of books – and don’t forget to add her Marion Chesney books. That’s a whole lot of books!

      (Or how about James Patterson?!?)

Hi Danna – I’m dropping by to say thank you kindly for listing my new release (Murder by Mocha). I’m in great company this August, and I hope everyone enjoys their summer reading.

I’ll be doing some fun themed giveaways in August via my web site so drop on by. I’m also happy to report that Roast Mortem (last year’s HC Coffeehouse Mystery) will be released August 2nd in paperback form, and AudioGo (BBC Audiobooks America) has purchased rights to put the entire Coffeehouse Mystery back list in audio form for the first time. (This was a long time coming, and it’s great news.)

Finally, I didn’t want to pop in empty handed. 🙂 Murder by Mocha will include chocolate recipes, but two of the most popular summer recipes on my site involve strawberries and limes. I hope you and your site visitors enjoy them. For a free PDF of my (Low Fat) Strawberry Muffins click here. For my Key Lime Coolers (cookies) click here, and…

    Enjoy your summer!

You are quite welcome, Cleo. I am going to post an entry with this very same comment from you in hopes that it “reaches” more people.

This surely is great news about your books all going audio. I am a member of audible.com, and love it when they add more and more Cozy Mystery books to their library of audios.

      Thank you for stopping by!

I know this may seem a bit of a rant but I would like to have the views of other readers on this. For many years I have been reading murder mystery cozies and thoroughly enjoyed and devoured them, but I am finding with some of the authors in the past year in particular that perhaps they are writing a romance rather than a murder mystery cozy. On several occasions lately I have picked up their latest paperback, eager to read it, and half way through I start to wonder if the murder mystery is still relevant as I am sidetracked onto the existing romance/or new one and have to go a few chapters before getting back to the plot. On a few occasions this year I have put the book down, not wishing to continue as it has been driving me round the bend.

Sorry for this but I am just wondering if other recipients to your website are finding the same problem.

Patricia, I am going to post an entry with your comment so that more people can view it. (I’m never sure how many people see the comments.)

I haven’t really noticed that the romance will take over the book. (I can think of one and I don’t read her books anymore.) Quite a few series have the main character falling in love and marrying another character, but that is 2ndry to the story. (Donna Andrews, Diane Mott Davidson and even Tony Hillerman.) For myself, the easiest answer to the problem is stop reading that particular series.

I usually like the addition of a romance. (Only if its secondary to the story.) Like a two in one. If the author gets carried away, it can be a real bummer.

    Hello Danna;
I agree with Patricia & I have favorite mystery writers, I have always enjoyed, but when going into the mysteries if the romance starts and goes on & On. If I want a romance I will buy one, but it isn’t fair to pay for a book like cozy, or murder mystery and it turns out to be something else; so
I to have a notebook and that author, I will not buy again.
It might be fair to them, but they should stay with what they are writing and let us decide…..Maybe this will give some of the authors a WAKE-UP call……smile.

Shirley and Beth, small world! I just wrote an entry featuring Patricia’s problem with romantic ties taking over more and more of her Cozy Mysteries.

What about Tempest in the Tea Leaves (Kari Lee Townsend), A Sheetcake Named Desire (Jacklyn Brady), Pleating for Mercy (Melissa Bourbon), A Good Day to Pie (Carol Culver), A Killing in Antiques (Mary Moody)

So many new authors…hard to keep up!! And I know I’ve left out a few.

Thanks for doing this site!! It’s my go-to for cozies 🙂

I have just bought A Sheetcake Named Desire by Jacklyn Brady. At the back of the book it said Jacklyn Brady is a pseudonym for an author in both mystery and romamce. Does anyone know what other name she writes under? I’m enjoying this book and would like to read others by her.
    Thank You
    Diane
