I have some really bad news to tell you about… Lea Wait (aka Cornelia Kidd) passed away this past Friday. Her death will be a great loss to the Cozy Mystery world. All of her series (Mainely Needlepoint, Shadows Antique Print, and Maine Murder Mystery) are very, very popular for many of us.
Lea Wait wrote a blog entry for the Maine Crime Writers website over a year ago in which she described finding out about her pancreatic cancer. Here is the link to this blog entry:

I haven’t read any of her books yet, but this breaks my heart. She’d just lost her husband & then suffers through pancreatic cancer, chemo, a broken ankle and a heart attack all in the last year of her life. On the other hand, I’m absolutely blown away by all that she managed to accomplish in that year despite pain, sickness, chemo and all the other obstacles. I’m so very sorry that she’s gone.

I’ve been a reader of her books from her very first one out and, with so very many others, am going to miss her terribly. I’ve a “gift” of being able to re-read over and over again my favorites and in this case feel fortunate for that gift. She will be missed by many!
