Kim Harrison needs to be added to the witch series, she’s a witch who lives in a church with a vampire and pixies. The books are a hoot!

    Hi Danna.
I just noticed your request for more books with Witch themes. I remembered about Hannah Svendson. Not sure of spelling, I’ll write it correctly after I can check it. The author is located in the ‘S’ section of Fiction and Literature at Borders. It is sort of a “cozy-fiction”. Thru a mixture of Business 101, witches, warlocks, gargoyles and what not, you get a really Fun read!
The main character-human female-it seems is immune to the spells cast on them by non-mortals. Non-mortals can then walk about freely without being discovered for what they really are.
But our heroine sees gargoyles, fairies, and all other such things everywhere she goes. She is then contacted by one of these strange-must be going to a party characters. That’s when the fun begins! And about the business part…OH BOY!…what fun with lots and lots and lots of action and adventure!

      Hi,
This is in reply to Hannah Svendson witch series. The author actual is Shanna Swendson. As far as I know she wrote 4 books in this series featuring Katie Chandler. Katie has no magical abilities but is able to see all things magical. The series was a very fun read and I was sorry when I finished the last book.
      Sincerely,
      Carol

Dolores Stewart Riccio is an author not to be missed for us lovers of all things witchy! She has seven (or 8?) books in her “The Divine Circle of…” Cass Shipton, owner of an herbal business and a group of friends in a library study group discover that magic actually works and so become a circle. Then they discover that each has a unique “quality” which is totally useful when it comes to solving the various murders that seem to follow them around. Thanks for the other suggestions and be sure to check these out!

Lisa, thank you for the suggestion. I wasn’t quite sure where I should put Ellery Adams’ Charmed Pie Shoppe Mystery Series. I wasn’t sure if they would qualify as a “Paranormal – Witch” theme. It became a question for me: Is Ella Mae actually a witch, or are her pies charmed without help from her as a witch? (That probably doesn’t make sense, but I hope it does.)

At one point I thought I should maybe add a new paranormal theme… a “Magical Powers” type of theme. But then that led me to the question: Can someone have “magical powers” without being a type of “witch”?

How about the “A Witch of Edgehill”-Series (5 books till now) by Melissa Erin Jackson?
The setting is a fictional town named “Edgehill” where everyone is crazy about cats (e.g. street-, shop- and event-names are all cat-related, the protagonist does have two cats and she sells toys that are magical, most of them in cat-form) – so these books could also fit in the “cat”-category. 😀

Nancy Warren has at least 3 witchy mystery series–*The Vampire Knitting Club*, which has a witch as main character; *The Great Witches Baking Show*–which also includes recipes; *The Vampire Book Club*, with another witch as main character. The two series with “vampire” in the title, both feature witches as main characters and witchcraft as primary story elements, while the vampires are definitely secondary characters. As prolific as this writer is, she will probably have another series going before I actually post this.

Helen Harper’s *The Lazy Girl’s Guide to Magic*, is yet another cozy witchy series, as is Christine Zane Thomas” *Witching Hour Cozy Mystery* series, which includes some additional supernatural/paranormal characters, but is definitely a witchy mystery series.

I just finished reading the first two books in Angela M. Sanders’ new Witch Way Librarian series. I enjoyed them very much and am hoping there will be additional books in the future.

On the run from a scandal in D.C., librarian Josie Way takes a job at a small library in a former logging town in Oregon. On her journey she discovers she’s a witch.

Besides with the mystery aspect, it is fun finding out –along with Josie– what her new found witchy powers can do.

I have 2 new series that I think fit the bill. One’s cozy, and while the other one isn’t, the author has been mentioned here before. I think one of these also belongs in the senior sleuths theme also.
The first one, is called Sunnyside Retired Witches Community, and it’s by Paula Lester. The first book is called A bottle full of djinn. I’m not really sure which part of the paranormal them would best fit this, so, I decided to put it here. The series takes place in the magical town of Sunnyside California. The main character, Zoey Rivers is a witch, whose in charge of/runs a retirement home for witches. While the majority of the residents and the staff are witches, there’s also a fairy whose the home’s secretary/receptionist, and an elderly demon, a sorcerer, and a genie live at the home as well. In between trying to keep the residents out of trouble, juggling her family, she also solves murders with the help of her residents. That’s why I thought this one should go in the senior sleuths theme also. They’re short reads, 3-5 hours long, so, I’d get the 2 box sets if you read them on Audible.
I have read the first 6 books in the series, and thought they were very funny and entertaining and heartwarming.
While this one isn’t cozy, Darynda Jones has been mentioned on here before. So, I thought I’d go ahead and post this. It’s called Betrixt And Between series and it’s pretty new. The first book is called Betrixt. After a messy devorce that’s left her broke and desperate, the main character Defiance Dayne, gets a letter, requesting her to come to Salem MA. stating that she’s inherited a house from her Grandmother, whom she has little memory of. When she gets there, she realizes that she’s not just a chef, she’s a very powerful witch, and that because of that, she has a target on her back. I listened to this one on Audio as well, while I was getting over COVID. and really enjoyed it.

Jeannie Wycherley has a series of about 15 books called Wonky Inn, featuring a witch named Alfhild Daemonne who owns and operates an inn in a picturesque Devonshire village. There are a few unnumbered special volumes as well.

In addition, there is a spinoff series called Wonderland Detective Agency, about a witch detective named Elise Liddell. Alfhild appears as a minor character.

I haven’t actually read any of this series yet, so I can’t say if it’s any good or not. But another series of cozy mystery books that is witch themed is ‘A Farmers’ Market Witch Mystery Series’ by Constance Barker 🙂

This blog is amazing! Cozy mystery is now one of my favourite genres…

Rosie Reed should be added to this list. She is the author of Magic Cakes Cafe, so far the serie has 9 books

It´s about a young witch living in an English vilage full of magical beings. Soooo good!

I can think of two additions to this list!

First, Lily Webb’s Magic and Mystery series about a young reporter who discovers she’s a witch when she’s hired by a newspaper in the magical town of Moon Grove (author’s website: https://www.lilywebbmysteries.com/book-list/broomsticks-and-burials/)

Second, there are only 2 books, but the Enchanted Bay Mystery Series by Esme Addison is about a family of witches/mermaids(?) in a coastal North Carolina town (book info: https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/series/0DS/an-enchanted-bay-mystery)
