Vacation time is here! For some of us that means spending our days outside, enjoying the fun nature has to offer. For others, it means cranking up the air conditioning and staying inside while avoiding 100° days. Either way, most of us have time to take a break to enjoy a few mystery movies that have shown on TV.
For those of you who missed some of the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries channel’s new mystery movies (Joanne Fluke’s Murder, She Baked: A Chocolate Chip Cookie Mystery, Peter King’s Gourmet Detective or Charlaine Harris’ A Bone to Pick: An Aurora Teagarden Mystery), you’ll get your chance to watch them during June. Also, there will be a McBride mystery movies marathon as well as a Murder, She Wrote marathon.
Over on the Turner Classic Movies channel, they will be showing Laura and The Letter, two really good movies. Also, if you want to see a really creepy Robert Wagner, way before his Jonathan Hart days, A Kiss before Dying should fill the bill! And as usual, I couldn’t help including a few movies that aren’t mysteries, but are so good I had to mention them: Jezebel and the three Father’s Day movies. I think all four of these movies are terrific!

Upcoming Television Mystery Movies for May 2015
I have a page on my site that has lots of links to entries I have written about movies and television shows you might enjoy. Here is the link to that page:
Cozy Mystery List TV and Movie Section
I hope you find lots of movies and shows you enjoy!
Susan Sundwall says
Wow, Danna. Thanks for the great list. I’m a Big fan of “Laura” in particular. Happy summer!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Susan, I have seen Laura but the last time was a few years ago. I went ahead and set up my DVR to tape it again. I remember really liking it, but it’s sort of hazy. I’m looking forward to watching it again, perhaps with my husband.
Donna Mc says
Thx for posting! I’m taking care of Mom now and we have to cut expenses, so we recently dropped cable & switched to antenna. This means I won’t get to see TCM or Hallmark for awhile, unfortunately. I do have quite a few DVDs of the older films and TV shows, so that helps a lot. I will pass this list along to my friends!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Donna Mc, I am guessing your library also has lots of movies for you to check out.
I hope all is going well with your mom! I tried to get my mom to move down here to be near us, but she absolutely refused to leave her home in Colorado. Thank goodness she had long-term insurance! It is difficult to take care of her from such a long distance, though. The ladies from the homecare agency seem to be doing a good job, but my younger brother has ended up having to do a lot of the day-to-day things, which isn’t easy for him since he has a full-time job. You’re a good person, Donna Mc!
Donna Mc says
Danna, did you know that the new remake of Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None will air on the Lifetime network this Sunday and Monday, March 13 & 14? I’ve heard some very good buzz about it and I’m really excited to see it! It’s not the usual Lifetime fare, I don’t know if they have ever done a period piece before, but all the previews look really good.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Donna Mc, thank you for telling us! I’m going to have to get my DVR cranked up. Wouldn’t it be terrific if Lifetime would start making period piece Cozies? I’m really excited about this! Thanks, again.
Donna Mc says
Yes, I hope they will! I don’t know how “cozy” it is though, I did see one preview that looked a bit gruesome at one of the crime scenes. Let’s hope they didn’t go the “realistic” route, the story is fantastic without all the gory stuff. I have heard lots of good things about it, though, and I’m excited to finally see it.
