Happy 2020 New Year! Can you believe we have come this far — after all the hoopla of the “Y2K” idiocy exactly twenty years ago? Yep, those were the days!
When I was compiling this list of mystery movies that will be shown on the Turner Classic Movies channel, a few things stood out: 1) TCM is featuring “futuristic” movies on the first day of the month (although I’m not sure they’re as “futuristic” as 2020) as well as some movies featuring mobsters. AND 2) Wednesday the eighth features mysterious mansions.

P.S. Good grief! I mistakenly wrote that Joan Blondell is TCM’s January 2020 featured star of the month. She was the featured star for December 2019, so I took that part off my introductory paragraph.
Bek says
OOOOOH! I love the 1963 version of “The Haunting!” There was the creeping horror. I didn’t like the remake in 1999 nearly as well, although if I hadn’t been comparing, I’d probably have liked it much more. “The Haunting of Hill House” is one of the scariest stories I’ve ever read…”Even katydids dream” “And what ever walked there, walked alone.”
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Bek, I haven’t seen the remake, but I do remember enjoying the original.
Bek says
The remake has an excellent cast, but LOTS of CGI creepy stuff…I preferred the more psychological creepy of the original.
