I just finished going through TCM’s Now Playing for August 2013. (TCM stands for the Turner Classic Movie channel.) Here are the mystery movies that I was able to find. Most of them are old, black and white mysteries. When I say “old”, that’s exactly what I mean!
I have not seen a lot of them, so I cannot vouch for all of them. Those that I have seen, I watched several years ago. I live here in San Antonio, so I have listed the Central time zone. If you know of any other mystery movies that are going to be aired on television during August 2013, please post a comment.

This is a great list! =)
Thanks!

Melissa B, you’re quite welcome!
Peg D. says
These are good picks. I’ve watched most of them several times over. Not familiar with the Torchy Blaine mysteries but looking forward to giving them a try. TCM and MPBN are two of my favorite t.v. channels. Don’t care much for the stuff they put on nowadays- too much drugs, sex, violence and some very poor acting not to mention the ever idiotic commercials!! Give me quality movies I can watch all the way through. Black and white movies rule!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Peg D, you can probably tell that I’m right there with you on my feelings about a lot of the current TV shows. Of course, they wouldn’t air them if people didn’t keep watching them…
(I would consider the Torchy Blaine movies to be B movies.)
Susan Sundwall says
Rebecca is one of my all time favorite books And movies. Thanks for post this, Danna.
linda c says
It sure would be nice if some of these movies were televised during the weekdays/afternoons. I love baseball and most of these movies listed are on when baseball is. Oh well!! The TV people can’t please everyone. I’ll just have to hope some will be televised this winter.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Linda C, I’m sure you’ll be seeing a lot of these same movies in the near future. Already I have noticed two of them that have been on twice since I started writing these entries.
Ann says
I always loved Steve McQueen and my dream was to live in San Francisco and drive a Mustang. I got to San Francisco, but a driving Buick didn’t have the same effect!!!!
Great list.

For those in the UK (and possibly even outside it) there is a DVD supplier of many classic vintage films and TV series, going back to Dixon of Dock Green, Z Cars, Gideon’s Way and many more. They are Simply Home Entertainment, and can be found at http://www.simplyhe.co.uk and browsing becomes addictive. I only regret that they don’t have a dedicated ‘crime’ section, but they’re all under ‘drama’.
