I finally came to the realization that I really, really like Halloween-type B movies! During October I have been getting my fill of a whole lot of “scary” movies from the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s. Mummies, bats, vampires, mad scientists… I just couldn’t get enough! I mean, before coming to this B-movie realization, I liked these movies, but I didn’t realize how much I look forward to October! But, now that it’s November, I’m going to have to wean myself off of those movies, and get back to my mystery movies.
Wow-zee! November’s theme must be Film Noirs! I’m delighted to tell you there will be (more than!) several film noir movies sprinkled throughout the month. So you don’t have to just wait until Eddie Muller’s Noir Alley weekly showings!
Here’s another highlight from this month on the Turner Classic Movies channel: director Alfred Hitchcock’s mystery movies will be featured starting the evening of November 26 (Thursday) and will continue through most of the 27th. Now that’s something to look forward to! Most of us have probably seen these movies countless times before, which is a testament to how good they are.
This month I have used the Eastern time zone on the Turner Classic Movies schedule. So, rather than Eddie Muller’s Noir Alley airing late Saturday night, it will be airing extremely early on Sunday morning on this eastern time zone. Actually, both of the airings of his monthly pick will be shown on Sunday morning on this eastern time zone schedule. I never miss his picks, and am especially grateful for his introductions and comments after the movies. He’s very detailed.

Vicki says
If you like old horror movies like the Universal monster movies from the 30s- 50s check out Svengoolie on Saturday nights 8-10 PM. He hosts only slightly scary movies on Me TV and they are so much fun!!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Vicki, sounds like a very nice time! I’m a big fan of the old horror classics.
Donna McLean says
I was about to recommend Svengoolie, too! He also includes trivia about the films and actors, which I like. His show is inspired by the old TV hosts that I remember growing up in the days before cable. It seems like every local TV station had some sort of “Creature Feature” every Saturday.
Vicki says
Not sure why my comments are not posted????? Are only certain types of comments encouraged?? Very confused
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Vicki, I post all comments after review… none of yours (that I have noticed) have looked like problems, but I get a LOT of spam comments, so I really do have to review them instead of just letting people post. I’ve also been a bit behind on approving comments for the last few days… Sorry about that!
Linda P says
Thanks so much for this summary. It makes it so much easier to find movies that I don’t want to miss!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Linda, you’re very welcome!
