The Turner Classic Movie channel will be showing four Hildegarde Withers movies this month. When I think of Stuart Palmer’s older, British amateur sleuth, I think of Edna May Oliver. (The fourth Hildegarde movie stars Helen Broderick as Hildegarde Withers.) Of course, Hildegarde is accompanied by a police detective who she is able to lead on to the correct solution of the crimes they (as in she!) solves. (You may be interested in checking out Stuart Palmer’s page on my Cozy Mystery site…) I have also had the pleasure of watching the Hildegard movies that feature ZaSu Pitts as Hildegarde, but the channel won’t be airing those this month.
Another thing I want to bring to your attention is the fact that the Turner Classic Movie channel will be featuring a day of Alfred Hitchcock movies on March 12. They will be starting the day with a documentary called “Becoming Hitchcock – The Legacy of Blackmail”. I’m looking forward to this! The day will continue by showing five more of Alfred Hitchcock’s mystery movies and his only comedy. I’m fortunate that I enjoy watching some movies over and over, and then over again!
