2025! Can you believe it’s here?!? (I can’t…)
First off, Happy Holidays to everyone!
As usual, I have tried to glean all of the mystery and crime movies that the Turner Classic Movies channel will be showing during the month – in this case, January 2025. There are two things that stand out for me: one is a four movie-run of Alfred Hitchcock mystery movies and the other is a three movie-run of movies based on Stuart Palmer’s Miss Hildegarde Withers books.
On Sunday, January 5, three of Stuart Palmer’s Cozy Mystery novels will be brought to life in the following three movies: “The Penguin Pool Murder”, “Murder on the Blackboard”, and “Murder on a Honeymoon”. All three of these movies star Edna May Oliver (I just love her movies!) and James Gleason. I can’t even remember how many times I have watched these movies — but I do know it’s quite a few times!
The second thing I want to point out is that Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Man Who Knew Too Much” and “The 39 Steps” will air on Wednesday, January 22. They will be immediately followed by Alfred Hitchcock’s “Young and Innocent” and then “The Lady Vanishes”. There are four other Hitchcock movies that will be aired during January: “Spellbound” on the 3rd, and then “Blackmail” and “Murder!” on the 16th. The fourth of his movies is (what I believe) his only comedy: “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” airing on the 2nd. I don’t think I have seen either of the ones that the Turner Classic Movies channel is showing on the 16th – those are from way back in 1929 and 1930.
